Hi Guys, Well after last years much successful (??) mugshot thread, i thought to myself 'hmmm, what a good idea it would be to do an action gallery!'. So, i want a high turn out in this one, around 80% of all members doing this. So get snappy happy and get those pics on here. Perhap Kwun can make this a sticky, seeing the BFer's in action! I'll put a couple to get the ball rolling... Matt
they are a bit on the smudgy side... anyhow, i will see what i can do! always wanted to do some photography of our own players... but of course, i end up playing instead. so... the quandry is, how can i photograph myself playing... if i'm not the one taking the picture? i dont think anyone else knows how to use a manual SLR camera... it will be an adventure, but i will do it!
Ack, I need a new digital camera to take some quality pictures, but maybe I'll snap some quick ones with my old one tomorrow.
Embarrassed as I may be, here are some of my action shots...no digital camera or professional photographer here so the shots aren't exactly very clear!
Hey, I saw you at the Ottawa tournament (I think). You and ur partner played the two Ottawa guys (Julien and Jeff) in the first round of U19 Doubles, right?
Badminton pictures Hi guys, just a little suggestion when taking sport pictures. Try to put your camera on "sport" mode if the mode is available : it makes your camera go on a "fast" shutter speed enabling to "freeze" the action. If you can go on manual mode, try setting it on the fastest shutter speed (1/250 of a second or "better" ; 1/1 000 would be ideal). Also recommended on manual machines is to pre-focus at a precise position and wait for the subject to get into that place, instead of "following" and tracking your subject. Keep those pictures coming!
well, the gym I'm playing in on the photo is a multi-sport gym like most gyms here, so you have the lines of 5 or 6 different sports in different colours... (see yellow for handball, red for basket-ball, etc) it can be quite confusing at first. luckily, badminton lines are always in black (that's the norm in France) so when you're used to it, you forget the other lines. however, I prefer playing on real badminton mats when I can, that's much better!
I'll try and get some pics tomorrow. I have a tournament tomorrow so ill see if my friend can bring a digicam to take pictures of action shots for me.
!!! about my position on court, I'm at the back left of the court, the net is above the top of the picture (the photo was taken from above the courts, that's why we can't see it) anyway, I know my brother has quite a few recent (and better) photos of me on court, I'll have to ask him for them... (and also a few videos actually!)
Found this picture in my pc.. this was taken last year i think. This was during an exhibition game. you can't see my face.
Ants, Where is that? How come they can set up a badminton court in the mall. It would be funny if someone catches the bird in the second floor when someone clears it high. LOL
The bottom photo I posted was taken in a multi-sport gym as well...I've been playing at that club for just over 4 yrs...still can't differentiate between the white (badminton) and yellow (basketball) lines as they resemble each other and due to the proximity of both lines. As for the top two photos, they were taken in a badminton-specific hall in Adelaide (Australia), one of very few halls in Australia which cater for badminton only.
Just out of curiosity, why is there a basket in the middle of the court? It looks like you guys are either playing half court singles (since there is another shuttle lying on the ground in the left half of the court), or the photo was taken during warm up? You must be a really good player to have an exhibition match held in a public place like that! Very cool.
