I just bought a 'universal stand' that was advertised as height adjustable. I bought a stand because my surface top drop-weight is too low when it's on a table. Unfortunately the stand is the same height as my table/desks. It's too low by about 20cm, and it's not really height adjustable - the feet are adjustable by about 2cm for stability purposes. I'm only 5'11''/180cm but stringing on a table is not particularly comfortable. Anyone have ideas about large strong containers that could go underneath? perhaps best to just send it back, although I might get stiffed for the postage even though it was dubiously described.
Have a look on ebay for "furniture feet" - the tallest I've seen are 150 mm, which should get you most of the way there. Alternatively, you can put a couple of housebricks under each corner - they're 100 mm wide.
20 cm is 8 inches. As Mark suggested, a couple of bricks under each foot. Or if you want sturdier with less chance of wobbling, several concrete pavement slabs.
Something like this is probably best. Not exactly "cheap", but then you've already paid for the stand.
Well I have this stand and if you untighten the screw just under the top, you can raise the top up around 5-6 cm atleast if not more. I have also put som furniture wheels under it so I can easily move it around, that also gives it a few extra cm.
krysser are balancing the top on the screw or still using the screw to push against the inner rod? I didn't think it would hold the weight like that
I have a table top dropweight too. I just sit on my sofa in the study and string on the coffee table, lol. The wife won't let me buy any more badminton stuff that takes room in the house, Mark are those feet sturdy enough? I tried making a wooden stand but found it to be too wobbly. If you use flange nuts - the ones with the wide bases - they're fine. Nylocks are even better, or Loctite.
^^ hmm... doesn't look that stable to me. I'd be worried about accidently kicking one out of position and the whole thing falls over.
Yeah me too. Doesn't look too safe to me, if it was me I would seriously have a rethink. I have the exact same stand, with Pro's Pro TX700 machine, I am 5'10" and have it adjusted at its highest setting and a set of 2" castor wheels bolted on, and its at the correct/perfect height for me.
yes, it's not just balanced, lol. There are m8 bolts screwed into the metal frame. They're not coming off!
