Are there any community centres that have drop-in badminton with feather shuttles for this coming week? Need somewhere to hit around since the Canadian Masters have taken over the VRC for a week.

Or any BFer's want to rent a court or two at ClearOne a few times this coming week? I haven't been playing as much as I want to lately, and I'm afraid if I go another week, what touch I have left will completely go :p.

I highly doubt any Community Center have drop-in feather.
Do you mean supplying you with feather or people play with feather?
I rarely see any people play with feather in community center dropins.

I meant places that most players use feather shuttles. I don't expect any place to supply them.

Isn't RBC "iffy" to get into as a drop-in though... I'd hate to show up, wait around, and then get turned away.

Not really, most of the time, drop ins play as much as regulars. There only happened once this year I remember where all the members showed up and the dropins had to wait. And happened 4 or 5 times where almost no member showed up(last Tuesday) and basically we played non-stop. So I would say

5%- full members(dropins have to wait)
    10%- non-stop playing
85%- play just as much as members

Actually, there are a few dropins that come regularly that I thought they were members. They won't keep coming back if they don't get to play. :p

Yeah, I agree with SB. Lately there has not been many members showing up and guests as well. There is a few members who leave around 8pm and so there is pretty much non stop badminton after that.
BUT, then again the night you pick to drop-in the courts will be packed to the rafters...haha :D
SB & I played Tue & Thu....also you will get to meet Frank, that SB has been ranting about.

The Kerrisdale Community & Dunbar Community, Centres; both use feather for their drop ins. Kerrisdale is Tue's night but the level of play is almost beginners...and Dunbar, Wed; well they are mostly quite older folks and a bit stuckup.. Drop in on both these places once and never been back there again.
I feel  as I myself is only a sub-par player and older than most of the baddies I hang out with..to offer comments like that

timeless - not sure why you are panicking about finding a place to play this week - the VRC gym is booked Tuesday and Wednesday to 11pm, and on Thursday is to around 7. Besides you rarely show up until well after 10 anyways and stay until 1 or 2am...
    ;)

    WWCBro & SmashingBird,

So are you two playing this Tues and Thursday? I just spoke with the Mrs., and we might drop in on Thursday. Is there a limit to drop-ins per week? Eg. If I show up on Tuesday, I can't play on Thursday or something like that.

BTW, I've met Frank before. He's dropped by VRC with some of the RBC members a few times last year.

True, but just because I'm ready to go at 11PM doesn't mean anyone else is! ;) :D Actually, I'm going to ATTEMPT to start playing earlier and finish earlier from now on... being nocturnal isn't as easy as it used to be.

Dunbar Community Centre has feather birdies (provided - Hi Qua red) at one of their sessions. Can't remember which day but it's during the day and most of the players are senior with one guy from Malaysia who's pretty good with shot placement.

RBC is games only... member drop-ins has priority over the three courts. Nice bunch of people, but court time is at a premium:(.

This Thursday, the Mrs. and I are planning on dropping into RBC. We know a bunch of the members so it's partly a social thing for us :D. As for Friday, I'm open to play somewhere with you guys but I dunno where. Same goes for Saturday. I wonder what time the Masters finishes at VRC on those days.

BTW Cappy, how is line judging at the Masters? :D Any matches worth catching?
