i bought a BG85 string at Bangkok from a genuine YONEX shop, same packaging as every yonex string. I had strung 2 same rackets, one with Singapore-bought BG85 and one with the bangkok one both at 23pounds. When i played with the Bangkok BG85, it is soft and clearly lacks the punch, repulsion and feel i normally get from Singapore bought BG85 on my other racket. Even visually it seems that the Singapore BG85 one is more opaque in colour while the Bangkok one seems more translucent. it feels like the singapore string is denser and offers more punch on smash and feel on drops. Anyone have same experience? Other question is? Does storage(humidity, coldness, heat) /shelf life degrade a string????
sorry, please move this to equipment forum, sorry, please move this to equipment forum, i did not realise when i post iwas in marketplace thanks
I was told that all yonex strings are made in Japan and then imported into various country so shouldn't be any country codes. In china however you'll be able to find yonex imitations, the packaging looks the same but when you look at the strings, you'll notice that it's less "oily" than the genuine ones .. if you know what I mean
It may be due to humidity difference. When you bring strings over from Asia to Canada, you have to let it sit for a while... get used to the surroundings u kno? but after a month or so it should't be that much a difference
Personally, I think the "freshness" of the strings have an effect on durability. In particular, undesirable humidity and temperature factors will probably shorten the lifespan of our strings. After all, strings are just threads of nylon. If we dry them out or heat them up, they are bound to become more brittle. -Rick
I don't know why, but "CH" strings don't work for me very well. "SP" is ok, but I still like the Original, the ones without any marks the best. Here are the pics, notice the bottom-left corners, there are Blank, "CH", and "SP". Blank means from Yonex-Japan directly, CH means from China Market, SP means from SP market. They are all made in Japan of course, but is there a quality difference? I don't know about that.......
thanks everyone for sharing!!! BlueJeff , now that you have shown me the pics, i am surprised that there is a code marking on the packaging also!!! i never noticed it before!!! I thought all packagings were identical
Lazzy, Don't worry, I don't sell CH or SP strings because I don't like them as much as my other strings(All my strings are from Yonex-Japan, the "blank" ) I bought some of the CH and SP last year just for trying out.....and the final verdict on them is...... NO!! I WILL NOT USE THEM AGAIN!!
BGK string package is blank!! I checked my packaging of the string i bought in Bangkok. I was surprised that it was blank without country code!! The strings i bought in Singapore are "SP" type one. Hmm, the BG85 string from Bangkok is worse than the Singapore one though' maybe a defect one. I wonder how come in Bangkok, they have strings with blank country code.
I am actually wondering if there is others?? Maybe UK? DK?...... ? PS: this thread is becoming a equipment-like thread
there's got to be counterfeit strings out there... so cheap to make and huge profit margin... and a lot of people wont even know the difference.
You are correct BlueJeff, i made a mistake and asked someone to correct it by moving it to equipment forum as i have mentioned in one earlier post, but it was not moved, please someone help!!! Oh Almighty administrator KWUN!!! Please summon ur godly powers to move this thread to the equipment forum
The all-mighty kwun is probably focusing all his attention to his queen janet now. Better start praying for help from the other two BF gods, Cheung and Mag, you know? -Rick
Yeah, that's what I thought. Kwun would be like "Man, give me a break, I am on HoneyMoon now" Cheung and Mag can help.
