Venue : Barclaycard Arena, Birmingham-ENG Total prize-money : US$500,000 Tournament website : http://www.allenglandbadminton.com/ Tournament time-table : http://www.allenglandbadminton.com/t...schedule-2015/ Birmingham time : http://www.worldtimezone.com/time/wt...ma=Find%20Time Order of Play (12.00pm, 4 courts) => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/matches.aspx?id=359F5D4F-9DEC-4974-A40E-9009DEE332F8 The intensity escalated as several seeded shuttlers tumbled yesterday. Three of top 8 MS failed to go further, Son Wan Ho (3rd seed), Srikanth (4th) and Vittinghus (7th). Two Chinese leading men, Chen Long and Lin Dan were forced to work extra hard to clear their first hurdle and while Danish #1 Jorgensen sailed to R/16 without too much problem. WS, all top-8 seeds prevailed, Wang Yihan and current WC Carolina Marin needed rubber games to eliminate Japanese rising star Okuhara and Irish Chloe Magee respectively. Nothing extraordinary happened in this category so far, minor upset was created by GER Karin Schnaase who eliminated Liu Xin. MD, biggest shock headline of R/32 as hot-fave Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seon was out very early by German GP Gold winner, Mads Conrad/Mads Pieler Kolding in straight sets. Also Indian combo Attri/Reddy who disposed Dubai SS Finals runner-up Chai Biao/Hong Wei. WD, China scratch pair of Tang Jinhua/Zhong Qianxin ousted second seed Matsutomo/Takahashi who also lost early in GER GP Gold last week. Another setback that INA combo Bernadeth/Pradipta lost to USA pair Lee/Obanana. China still dominates to field 5 pairs in last sixteen. XD, lackluster performance by third seed Xu Chen/Ma Jin, semifinalist of last year edition. Darkhorse home hero The Adcocks plus three faves have bright prospect to cruise into last eight. China has guaranteed quarterfinal berth through Lu K/Huang YQ v Liu C/Bao YX. http://sports.sina.com.cn/o/2015-03-05/08257532689.shtml At the post-match interview, Lin Dan said:"Playing at the AE after a lapse of two years , I need some time to get back the feel. The AE is different from other tournaments, every year all the world's best will come to compete. In the opening match, it's unavoidable that my form wasn't too good." He further explained:"The first set went smoothly, after that it didn't go well, quickly lost G2, got to do a summing up when I go back, hope to do better tomorrow. Because I played badly in G2, it allowed my opponent to gain confidence and resulted in the match going less well for me." With regard to his knee problem when asked by a reporter, he said it's holding up all right so far and wouldn't let it bother him too much for he believed most players would have some sort of injury concerns competing at such a high level. According to the report, Super Dan took the opening set easily 21-14 against Wei Nan, but was error-prone in the second set and Wei Nan equalised with 21-12. In the decider, both sides played at a very high standard, eventually Lin Dan with his deceptive shots and incisive attacks triumphed 21-16.
sorry for picking a post from yesterday: What I said was not meant evil against China. I know that there are a lot of other nations which are proceeding this. And I also know that the AE is not relevant for the olympic qualifying. Everything is cool
To think that Boonsak Ponsana trounced K Tago yesterday. Kudos to Boonsak. Not sure if he can get past JOJ today but I won't rule it out completely, an upset is possible though not highly anticipated as JOJ is unpredictable and inconsistent at times.
Okay this time the Korean players went to the tournament with high expectations to win medals. However, the outcome of the result is disasterous. Lee So Hee / Shin Seung Chan lost straight set to Tian Qing / Zhao Yunlei. Chang Ye Na / Jung Kyung Eun lost to Wang Xiao Li / Yu Yang. Lee Dong Keun lost to Marc Zwiebler. Son Wan Ho lost to Rajiv Ouseph. Kim Ki Jung / Shin Seung Chan lost to Tan Aik Quan / Lai Pei Jing. Ko Song Hyun / Choi Sol Kyu lost to Andrei Adistia / Hendra Aprida Gunawan. Lee Yong Dae / Yoo Yeon Seong lost to Mads Conrad Peterson / Mads Pieler Kolding. Korean have registered 15 players for the tournament. Out of this 15 players, 7 players are knocked out in the first round. The other 8 players that survived are not likely to make it pass the second round either. We can rule out that the partenrship of Ko Sung Hyun and Choi Sol Kyu is a failure. Then the great men doubles, Lee Yong Dae / Yoo Yeon Seong also cannot maintain their winning form which is a great upset to the Korean people. They also lose tamely in the first round of the tournament. This eventually proves that Korean badminton standard is going downhill. Most of the players seems to have lost to an unranked player. So sad. This certainly is not good for Korea ahead of Olympic Games qualification. I hope this answer the questions of the Korea players standard. Any other opinion or any other thing to add on? Feel very sad now. :crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying:
^Why are you so panic? Just some changes, and it's just the first big tournament of the year. Players win and lose sometimes. Let's wait and see.
Yes you are right from the beginning. I begin to accept that players lose and win sometimes and losing is part and parcel of the game. After the dismal and poor performance of the Korean players in German Grand Prix Gold Open last week, I thought the Korean players would improve. However, all I see is a worse result with 7 players being knocked out in the first round. So anybody with any opinion or any suggestions about how the Korean players can improve? Any other opinion to add on here? I am open to any suggestions here.
