Hey, when stringing crosses, do you use one or two clamps? Does it make any difference regarding stringbed stiffness?
When I do a pattern which I'm not used to, or a tension higher than my norm, I will often use the fixed clamp and a flying clamp. Call it paranoia about losing tension.
You're going to need two for the mains anyway, and I always found it faster when using two - you only ever move a clamp on the same side of the racket.
I use 2 for crosses and 4 for the mains. I find it quicker to move them just to the next string to the side rather than the opposite end as well ... plus if i derp and remove one before i should i have a safety net and don't have to re-tension the rest of the racket.
I did start to have one fixed clamp in use at a time on the crosses until I had a couple of clumsy accidents where I released the tension. I'm back to using both now just incase.
I always use 2 for mains, 2 for crosses. I use fixed clamps but no reason why you can't use flying clamps.
2 and 2, for the same reasons above, it's faster. I've never considered tension loss a threat (I string 25 and below, mostly). To me, there isn't much convenience to using only one.
