The last time I checked there was one on the IBF site which gave lists of shuttles and matting for floors etc.

My cynicism keeps telling me that the IBF-approved status is pretty much something any company can buy. As long as your product is at least decent, you just have to pay them a nice fat contribution and your thing will be approved.

Is that the general idea, or am I being too cynical here?

Go to the IBF site, www.worldbadminton.net and on the main menu (left hand side), select "Inside IBF" and you will get a drop down list with the last one being "Approved Equipment".

I cant remember playing with any shuttles that dont say on the tube "approved for international tournament play"!

I think as long as the dimensions are correct (within the rules), then they (IBF) cant say they cannot be used for international play, that is up to the organisers to choose a quality suitable for the standard of play.
