Guys, i need some info on my current racket since i couldnt find any online..... My current racket is an old Yonex Carbonex 8 Tour SP. My relative gave it to me. For those who have this racket, what string and string tension should i use. And could you guys pls give me some info on this racket such as the price, date of production etc. And does old rackets dont have serial numbers in the shaft or the (grip)?..... I hope you guys could help me and thank you in advance.
Its not that no one wants to help... its just that the racket is... how shall I put it... ancient...!? Just way too old...
See the following BC threads http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/85066-Carbonex-8-Specs-Question http://www.badmintoncentral.com/forums/showthread.php/3422-Carbonex-8-SP-Tour-Question http://www.badmintoncentral.com/for...History-Museum?p=887751&viewfull=1#post887751 Yonex Cab 8 was launched in 1978! Most folks that I know if they have the old rackets uses them for warm up (heavier than today's rackets) or training but not in play as no one would want to play with them in doubles in case they clashes rackets (guess which racket would break in those situations)
That is a good intermediate racket, if u can handle oval head n its weight. A good training racket, much better than mid-end victor/yonexes. Just try stringing it at 23-25 ACCURATE digital m/c.
I prefer that racket than any sub $100 yonex/lining/victor. However my accuracy is not as good as bfre due to my age so i use isometric rackets
Cab8 Tour Sp is not from the 70s. It was early 2000, reintroduced w silver/blue colour. It was still made in japan, if i am not mistaken. Even if it was made in TW, it is still much better than current sub $100 yonexes.
Does old YY rackets really dont have a cone/shaft serial code....because mine doesnt. Im wondering if this is fake or not...please help
Older 1990s may not have serial codes but yours is a reintro model, with a "Tour" which means it's an improved version of Cab8. In general, any tour version of badminton/tennis rackets are heavier n stronger than regular version. Yours is definitely not a fake one. The yy fakes are only the high end models, Cab8 Tour SP was not high-end.
