Hey has anyone seen this pair play against Zhang Jun and Yu Jinhao at the final of Sudirman Cup 1999? Eriksen and Larsen showed up in casual tshirts of different colours... I wonder if they were dug out of the club to play the sudirman cup? Anyone know how Jens Eriksen started? Did he join the national team after playing at some club until his late 20s? That'd be pretty cool.. some guy who got discovered in a club almost beat the chinese doods who train day in and day out. Isn't it an IBF regulation that you should wear the same colours with your partner or something at a graded tournament?
It wasn't Jens Eriksen but Jesper Larsen who turned pro in his mid 20´s.. Now Jesper only plays for fun in the league in Denmark
there is no clothing color matching rules in 1999. even now, they are not strict rules. i believe the wording used is "encourage". and the Danes used to wear quite casual looking shirts to matches. that's not a surprised. Jens and Jesper at that time was the top pair in Denmark, their appearance in the '99 Sudirman Cup was not accidental!
