Hi, I have recently returned to playing badminton after a short stint of being abscent. I would say I am a medium player but lack in strength and mainly play doubles. As I lacked strength I decided to purchase an N90-III racket as I thought it would assist in my lack of strength, it certainly helped on my strength play and found smashes were 10 times better with the racket but I have now come to realize that I am lacking in speed with this racket as its quite heavy headed. So my question is what would a better racket be to keep my strength at least partially ther but improve my speed? It seems a more head light racket is in order but when searching on badminton direct it does not seem to cater for this or indeed suggest rackets that I am familiar with. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Gav
I would suggest an even balanced racket as it will still give good power, but will still be quick and easy to handle. I don't have great knowledge on li ning or victor rackets, however for Yonex I would recommend an arcsaber 11. Thanks guys, I use the badminton direct site frequently and neither of those rackets are listed unless they go under a different title :-( I have used the selector but I still believe they weighted to the rackets they want you to buy if that makes sense. Gav
Wouldnt depend on the selector too much... just a marketing gimmick if u ask me. If u r in UK looking for Victor rackets, u could try contacting Paul Stewart or Benwiluk (under same name here in BC). If arrangements could b made, u might even get a chance to demo most of the currently available rackets... what fun!!
Oh wow!!! Now that would be great. Who is Paul? This is my biggest bug bear to be able to try a racket out first. The mistake I have clearly made with the Ni Ling racket. Not sure its suitable for my purpose and was quite expensive. Gav
If you like the N90 III but want a little bit more maneuverability, give the N80 a try. Li-Ning N80 is less head-heavy but still packs a lot of punch. The N90 III was my all time favorite racket, but after I tried the N80 I was impressed - it's my go-to racket since a while now.
I have been looking at the N80 to be honest but they are hard to find reviews for on the Li Ning range
I swear irregardless of what you choose that selector will recommend a ZF2. Anyway, I too would love to try some more Li Ning rackets. I played well with an N90 II, better than I do with my ZF2. Nowhere in my area stocks Li Ning, it's all Yonex.
I bought a 3U Li-Ning Ultra Carbon 9000. It's slightly H/H with a BP of 307 strung and gripped. Should be fast enough for what you're looking for but still have enough weight in the head for power. They are on badminton direct website too!
