    No Wild Card in MS?

Since the host has eligible players, we know that PBSI has no wild card to offer in MS, despite of what Malaysian newspaper is saying.

However, BWF does not hold a wild card spot for itself in the MS list. In contrast, in the 2014 list (http://www.bwfbadminton.org/file.aspx?id=547712&dl=1), BWF did hold a wild card which was not used and put back to the pool.

Does it mean that the wild card door had been shut on LCW?
Or just a careless mistake by BWF?

My understanding is that BWF to decide whether to use the wild cards for each event on the first Friday of May, i.e. 8th May 2015 in this case, as per regulation reference 3.2.14 and Annexure I.

Right, PBSI is not entitled to nominate a wild card entry for MS as it already has a player eligible via the BWF ranking list, as per regulation 3.2.10.

Malaysia has the option of sending Chong Wei by chopping either of the other 2 qualified players. They don't need the wild card option.

I suggest LCW should let go WC this year and better focus on coming OG as it is 4 years 1 time only while WC 2 years 1 time...

Sad that Sun Yu just missed out as WR9, the 4th CHN WS outside the top 8. Still hoping she gets to compete should someone who qualified drops out, somehow.

Sun Yu will most likely go to WC. As the #1 reserve, her chance is 90% if not 99.99%.

Ou DongNi/Yu XiaoHan will go too, if CBA allows them.

not quite sure how you got the 90%+ chance!
for her to play at the WC, one of her 3 teammates needed to drop out before the 2nd Thurs of May, ie 14th May.

I am so looking forward to it, Sun Yu. Hope to see WD ODN/YXH there too. Wonder if Tian HW or Xue Song (unlikely) can get lucky to go as well.

Sun Yu is #1 on the reserve list. If you check out how many players got in from the reserve list in past World Championships, you would know what I mean.

the situation for SY is different.
it's not just anyone dropout and she will be the first in line, as only max 4 players per NOC if they are in top 8. only one of her teammates to dropout then she will go as one of the three, I believe

There are two maximum of 4 rules. One is 4 out of 8 automatic qualification. Another is max of 4 in any circumstances, including wild card.

Sun Yu does not qualify under the first rule in any event. Sun Yu cannot take up any vacant spot during the initial phases when the 4/8, 3/24, and 2/150 rules are still in effect.

However, Sun Yu would be the 4th player under the overall maximum of 4 rule, if a spot is opened up to players on the reserve list later.

Right, I was about to say. That's why I'm also hoping for Tian Houwei to get in too.

In the past two WC, there were two reserve spots in MS. So THW's chance is not bad, but not as good as Sun Yu's. If LCW is awarded a wild card, THW's chance would be lowered.

Yes, exactly, wild card takes precedence over the Reserves List.
