Can someone please post some reviews for Zymax 69 Fire? I know there's a long threat regarding the Zymax 2015 new strings but no detail review for this string yet. Can someone tell me how does it compare with Yonex BG80/80P/65/65Ti and Victor VS850 in terms of stiffness and repulsion? Is this a stiff string or medium feeling? It's very frustrating that Ashaway don't have such information on their sting description.
I strung one for my club mate @ 28/29 on one of his ZF. He let me try it. IMO it feels harder than 65/65TI, but not harder than BG80/BG80P. About VS850 I can't say any word, because it tried it years ago. I would rate ZM69F as a medium feeling string. IMO NBG99 is Yonex's closest reference but not similar. feeling: BG80>BG80P>ZM69F>BG65TI>BG65 repulsion: BG80>BG80P>ZM69F>BG65TI>BG65 Maybe my rating is inaccurate, because I used all string at different tensions and on different rackets. I must add that the durability of ZM69F must be pretty bad. The junior (15) with the ZF showed me yesterday his racket. String is showing wear and tear after 6 days. Will definitely break this week. Any Yonex string (0.68-0.70) lasted for him 3-4 weeks at the same tension.
I had most consistent durability with yonex string in thicker .68 to .70 mm range. No other brand was that consistent . As a matter of fact while amongst enthusiasts yonex may not be best among racket but definitely strings.
69 Fire is an excellent string. I have been stringing 25 years, predominantly using Yonex strings. Since introducing Ashaway Zymax Fire into my stringing range, many players have moved over to this string. They are getting superior results compared to Yonex with strings lasting a lot longer compared to the number of breakages they had in the past. I string one player with 69 mains and 66 crosses. It plays so well. There is considerably less string movement in Fire 69 compared to many similar strings. In my opinion, Zymax Fire is a gem of a string. It's easy to string with and has fast become a favourite amongst my stringing clients. In fact I've been so happy with the string, i personally use it in my rackets. As a final endorsement, if something in badminton is good, I'll promote it because I believe in telling others its good. I asked Ashaway for permission to use their graphics and display them on my website. By the way, I do not get paid if people buy the string. On a different note - is there any string in the Zymax Fire range that outperforms BG-66 Ultimax in performance and durability?
Is there any dip in performance post 20 hrs? How often do you restring your racquet. With the 66 Ultimax, anything beyond 20 hrs of intense play feels dull.
i know what you mean with bg66um being dull after a few sessions, probably around 10 hrs or less for me those few times i tried it zm62fire surprisingly is still quite playable at 20 hrs... no significant notching nor fraying, repulsion only a tad less, feel just as good
No offense, but what tension are your clients running in their rackets and what was their prefered YY string before? I have never seen such wear and tear after just 6 days at this tension. It's exactly in the sweep spot area. I'm not stringer since 25 years but I never made this experience with any other string. Maybe you have a solution or answer for this case? Maybe I have a bad batch?
Most clients are using tensions ranging from 24 - 30lbs. Prior to using Ashaway they were all on Yonex strings, mainly BG65Ti although I have to include BG80, Nanogy 99, BG65, BG66 Ultimax. We tested BG80 Power and that was poor. The biggest issue for players and string performance centred around durability. bear in mind conditions where I live are perhaps colder and damp. All of the players have provided good feedback saying they prefer Ashaway string because it's more durable and provides excellent performance together with very little string movement.
