Hi, I have been suffering from terrible tennis elbow issues since last 3 months. It used to hurt me very much at first but now I have learned to adjust with it just like other daily pain. I have been trying the some exercises and at last end up with buying a brace for it. Do you know how long it will take to heal it? My elder brother has experienced same issue before and he underwent a tennis elbow treatment in a clinic in Mississauga and I remember him saying that it was effective for him, so I am considering it too. However this is my first experience with tennis elbow, so any advice about the treatment would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Stop playing immediately
    2. Go see a doctor who may prescribe medication.
    3. Rest for a few weeks, as maybe recommended by the doctor.
    4. At the same time during your resting period, go see an acupuncture specialist .. should be many practitioners in Toronto.
    5. After two weeks of acupuncture (at twice a week), go see a physiotherapist.
    6. resumption of light exercises WITH the brace for a few weeks or months, as maybe recommended by the physiotherapist.
    7. If anything goes well, stop using the brace

    As above, and make sure:

    1. your grip size is not too big for your hand.
    2. you're not pan handling grip
    3. do some stretching exercises... do a search

In the long run, a few things to bear in mind.

    A) Proper technique is very important in preventing the aggravation of existing injuries.
    B) Stretching before and after playing.
    C) Suitable equipment (eg, racket and braces)

It took me 6 - 8 months. Anyway, try to do a lot of stretching exercises... you might think "how would stretching exercises help me recover???" Seriously, it really helps.. I doubt it at first.. that's why it took me so long.. and when I started doing more stretching exercise, the recovery expedited.

definitely agree with this. There are general stretching exercises and those for the arm. Sounds odd but do do both sets.

I've got terrible golfer's elbow... going for acupuncture this week to see if it helps. I've try some of the massages prescribed by physicians on youtube. They help, but it keeps coming back after a few days of activity or inactivity.

They say using a powerball helps with the tennis/golf elbow.

I'm surprise no one has mention this but having high string tension can also cause the issue, assuming that you have a poor technique nor the strength to utilise high string tension.

Another cause that I found are the usage of tablets. It might be irrelevant to the topic but I use to get a lot of pain on my forearm whilst warming up and that was due to the excessive usage of a tablet; holding it in one hand. Since I stopped that, the pain has went.

I think mine is definitely caused by suspended elbow hanging from the edge of the table while working on laptop for lengthy hours, especially when operating the mouse. I've got a controller to adjust my software setting now so I won't entirely be mouse dependent. Some of the video you can easily find on youtube posted by therapist work, although quite temporarily, but they're worth watching and applying before games. Powerball would definitely help... but I dropped mine and it's cracked on the spindle region inside, so it's no longer functional.

I had the problem a few years back, went to physiotherapy and got a different type of brace.
From what I heard/experience/reading it is much better than others.

My technique is not the best but after stopping using stiffer rackets and using more flexible rackets, my arm does not ache much any more.

You don't need something so expensive, that's almost $30 us! Any adjustable forearm tensor for tennis elbow from the pharmacy or drug store would do.
