I have been trying to look around for black strings which i intend to use for my Ti-10. I think it looks cool with black. So far all I can find is black BG65. My usual string, BG85, only comes in blue and white. So are there other strings that come in black? I dont really like BG65. Durable but poor playability for me IMHO. Thanks

BG68Ti also comes in black. But black is a giveaway colour and may marginally disadvantage your game.

BG66 and BG65TI and BG70Pro all have in black color.

I used to like black strings a lot....now I don't like them at all because once you hit some shuttles, they are going to leave a noticeable white mark on the strings, and that's not looking good at all. After few games, my black strings have lots of white marks on them, and evnetually, now, it looks more like a white-grey color. So, why not just get white??:(

    Haha :D
Also, you can tell by the sound. Hitting onto the frame and at the center surely would sound differently.

... capture my frame of mind completely...

I am also totally in love with black strings... but am starting to pay attention to the white marks left by the shuttle on the strings... I might start experimenting with other colors... maybe buy one of those 5 set strings on ebay with multiple colors so i can try all of them... personally i like white, black, grey...

Oh well... to my knowledge... BG65 68Ti 70Pro are definitely available in black buy you have to realize that many seller do not stock up on black strings as they do not sell as well...(this is based on my experience shopping for strings here in the US... dont know about manilla though)

colour wont make too much difference to ur level of playing.

IT's all in the skills, not colours.
I got bg 65 white strings, but I like black colour. so I coloured my strings black :D

Black, purple and white string is very nice on Ti-10. I use to put black bg-65ti and bg68-ti on my Ti-10 but I realised that I hate Titanium string and moved to Bg85.

    Try this, White grip+white string^^

Exactly, especially when you are serving, the white shuttle against a black background is seen with crystal clear clarity by the receiver, who will pounce on your serve with more confidence.

This works for each individual shot. However, the "mark" can be saved as a historical data, and good for "analyze" later on. :D

u could easily paint the strings with any type of spray paint..waterproof.

just watch out ur frame, cuz u dont want to get the paint on the frame.

Using permanent marker or spray paint may have some adverse affects on string. Consider how the properties of spray paint work for example. They bond to the fibers of the string and COULD weaken the integrity of the string. Waterproof spray paints will likely have some kind of oil base in the paint, so it definitely won't improve the string.

I'm just talking hypothetical here, but they have stencil ink for a specific reason, and I'm sure it's not just because they can make a buck. From my experience with permanent marker for example, it definitely did not help the string's longevity on BG-65.

the winex paint sticks all the strings together.....i'm sure that will mess up the string rebound characteristics?

won't it be the same with spray paint?

This topic is slightly similar to this one: http://www.badmintonforum.com/vb/showthread.php?t=948
Altho that one goes more into the affect on performance, not on string life.

The overwhelming majority of spray paints use VAE (Vinyl Acetate-Ethylene) or VA-BA (Vinyl Acetate-Butyl Acrylate) copolymers because they exhibt the desired balance of properties needed in paint. They both have have superior coalescence and excellent binding properties.
For this reason, many of them are known as "crusting agents". They will pretty much 'fuse' the fibres in your string together and fill any porous surface. This would be detrimental in the life of any string. Elasticity would be greatly affected; you'd have a more brittle string in any case.

The stencil paints I would assume do not use VAE or VA-BA, or they just use small amounts.

Anyway, to answer you question: I've definitely seen BG70Pro in black.
