I've owned 3 pairs of Hi-Tech Vipers, and I plan on never owning another pair. They fall apart way too easily. Same problem as fast3r, the bottom of the sole near the ball of the foot peels off. In my case, it happened after about a month's time, on all three pairs. a lot of the British team plays with Hi-Tech stuff though, maybe they make some good things as well.

I'm using Mizuno Wave Gate II, and once tried Asics Gel Construct too. It might be just coincidence , but the only time I tried the Asics shoe, I "turned" my ankle during a singles game. Mizuno, however, seems not very durable at the "nose" part of the shoe. It takes one drag with the "nose" and the look of it is gone. I try not to drag like that again.

Which one do I like?...Well I kinda prefer the Mizuno as it fits my feet better as Iíve got wide feet. And the ankle support is kinda nice too.

The Asics is slightly design for narrow feet. With Asics Iím wearing size 26.5 and itís significantly narrower on the sides compared to the Mizuno eventho the size on Mizuno is 26.

I havenít played much with both shoes to be able to tell the differences on the solesÖI guess theyíre pretty much about the same. So at this time I like the Mizuno better cos it hugs my feet better and really comfortable to wear compared to Asics. I havenít got any Yonex shoes so I canít tell you much about that too.

    Hope that helps

    Question Asics n Mizuno shoes

    Hi bajaiman,
Wow, cool man. How is the performance of these two ? I am currently wearing Asics shoes but would to consider Mizuno as an alternative. Well, any comments? Thanks.

I used to wear these Asics Gel-Typhoon...

But have recently bought these Mizuno Wave Tornado...

If anyone is interested, I'll write up a review of the Tornado after a week or so of breaking them. Too bad we can't get Asics/Mizuno badminton shoes in North America.

    Cool Types of shoes

    Hi,
Love to see yr review of yr Asics and Mizuno Tornado. Pleased to hear from u. I just wanted to hear those BC members who had used Mizuno shoes. Heard that their cushioning and ventilation were good. Any comments?
    Thanks.

Mizuno feeling is quite different from that of the Asics. Just as bajaiman mentioned, Asics are rather narrow compared to the Mizuno's wide feeling. And this difference is obvious - you can't miss that. Moreover, Asics theoretically the same size are a bit smaller in length too, and a bit more cushioning (especially noticeable at forefoot). This all (smaller, narrower, more cushioned) leads to less lateral stability.

My opinion from the use of my Mizuno Wave Gate II and Asics Gel-Construct. Btw, there might be differences with Mizuno Wave Tornados as they might have more forefoot cushioning (Tornado = volleyball shoe vs. Gate II = badminton shoe).

    Default Asics laces

Btw, perhaps it's already on this site somewhere, but here's my two cents about the shoe lacing of Asics shoes.

Notice the two extra "empty" shoe lace holes in, for example, timeless' gel-typhoon pictures 3 posts above. You can use those, if your shoe seems like not holding to your foot very well... but in a specific way. If you crossed your shoelaces once more and just drew them through the last holes, your feet would be too tightly strung. But you need to draw the laces inwards the previous hole, and outwards the last hole the same side (not crossing the laces). Then the laces seem to hold the shoe better.

Don't know if you all know this already and if i expressed myself clearly, but that's how the last holes are supposed to be used, according to one of my volleyball-playing friends.

Talking about this Wave Gate 2, I'm facing the same problem as you have mention. That piece of grey color rubber nose looks very solid but after a a drag, the groove line is gone left the smooth surface.

Intend to get another pair of shoe because this w.gate 2 has cause my right toe bleeding (under the nail)
