For 'somebody else', who else can it be but Lee CW? Why not simply include his name ? I'd say for those who want to support a dark horse not listed in the poll, s/he is free to state his name in the post.
I think LCW, CL and LD have about 33,3% chance each of winning so I voted for LCW (Somebody else) because I want him to win.
Thanks guys, good to see real numero uno at numero uno here in BC poll too.Don't worry about "somebody else" because Srikanth has told me that he has watched the beijing Olympic finals 100 times and is ready to replicate the same performance if needed against someone very familiar with that dark day
I guess so, and there are other similar examples, not a few I think. I suppose, for most people, it's not a matter of predictions but expressions of wishes driven mostly by patriotism (hope it's not misplaced or, worse still, bordering on extreme nationalism), undying support, steadfast loyalty, constant favouritism, strong bias (or equally strong prejudice against archrivals),and what have you. Well, the poll asks for our predictions, not so much a selection according to our wishes or preferences, but, frankly, how many are really doing that, not to mention attempting to do it as objectively as possible as understandably a certain degree of subjectivity is unavoidable as human nature goes? Your guess is as good as mine. Realistically speaking, for myself, I almost can't see any one outside the Super Trio, namely Chen Long, Lin Dan and Lee CW, taking the coveted title. If I've to put a figure, I'd say at least 90 to 95% sure that one of the trio will be crowned champion eventually, the chances of anyone else upsetting the odds is pretty slim. Sorry to say, for someone outside the trio to win it will practically require a confluence of unforeseen circumstances, a remote possibility, not impossible but highly improbable. Admittedly, based on current form and recent performance, Chen Long clearly has the edge over Lin Dan and Lee CW. Even so, for both objective and subjective reasons, my pick is still Lin Dan - three considerations, first, the WC is a major event just like the Sudirman Cup, I believe you know what I mean; second, after suffering a few humiliating defeats and embarrassing flops of late, I trust Lin Dan will want to reassert himself, in fact it's high time he does so to prove his detractors wrong and assure his die-hard fans and, more importantly, the sponsor Yonex; third, and this is personal, my belief in him is not yet shaken ( a little bit perhaps but my gut feeling tells me Super Dan can deliver again on the big occasion just as he has done previously since his great comeback). If I may humbly say so, I am not entirely ruling out the (highly unlikely?) possibility that this WC may serve as a reality check for Lin Dan hitting home to him where he stands and what to expect come Rio'16. However, should Chen Long manage to successfully defend his world title, then we would have to accept that it undeniably ushers in the beginning of the Chen Long era and let's Hail the new Heavenly King.
I think Chen Long era started after he won the WC in 2014.I also want to add that LD has stolen(in a positive way) one major from Chen Long in Asian Games 2014.It's all his now and every major is his to loose. However, come Rio he will be robbed once again as per my calculations.
