I've been having this very annoying pain that some time lead to cramp on my left upper leg (near my butt) -- felt like muscle strain. It's been going on for about 3 months now, never get better and neither get worse. I noticed whenever done with few session, then i can feel a bit cramp on the muscle. The pain itself last for about 24x7 to the point i got used to it. Standing for longer period makes it worse. Laying down and sitting position help. Whenever i try to touch my toe, the pain comes up.

A bit of massage helps a little right after exercise. I did regular warm up before the game and cool down as well.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what i might have been having? What do i need to do about it? I tried resting for 2 weeks, but didnt really help. I play twice a week.

    Thank you

Since resting didn't do any good I would advise you to get a real massage (the kind that really hurts). Alternatively you could get yourself a massage ball or a hard rubber ball similar to this. This will propably hurt a lot especially the first few times but keep on working that spot and you should be good within 2 weeks or so.

Did you have a back injury before? How about any knee or ankle injuries?

Yes, just 2 years ago i posted about "backpain" that paralyzed me on bed for 2 weeks, ceased all exercises for 6 months, and the backpain still some time come when i'm too exhausted from exercises. Does this pain on upper leg, perhaps related to my backpain? I also used to seek advices for treatment of bicep pain but it already healed (i guess so).

The pain is bearable until the cramp takes over the entire left leg. I dont know exactly what kind of doctor i should see.

Oh, in addition to those injuries i had because of badminton, currently my right knee seems to be having a bit of pain. I cant jump or else i bet my right knee will probably gets worse. My left leg is just awaiting for the cramp any time in the game before i surrender and go home.

A ordinary family doctor or general practitioner would be ok. Choose one who is very busy, with at least 20 years of experience, and one who you need to make appointment at least a day or two in advance.

I haven't gone back to your previous threads. Did you get a diagnosis that time? Any investigations done?

OP, you should really seek medical attention for these problems...whether physio, chiropractor, doctor etc.

    Great minds think alike. :D

A few more pieces of advice in choosing a doctor:

    1. he should have practiced at the same location for more than 10 years.
    2. the customer services of the doctor and nurses should be lousy (ie, they don't want your business; the best ones would probably yell at their customers). Nurses probably look old and ugly.
    3. the customers (ie, the patients) look like they are price-conscious and demanding.

    Hope the above help.

    1. See doctor first.
    2. See acupuncture specialist next
    3. see physiotherapist last
    4. resume badminton with stretching before and after each session
    5. Apply the right KT Tape before badminton.

:) You did not need a MRI to confirm you have back pain.

Didn't the MRI report say something like disc herniation?

Yes it did. But it was 2 years ago. Doctor mentioned something about it comes with aging and too much exercise (jumping in particular). I guess i'll need to cease my badminton for few months until my left leg gets better. I barely now stand for longer than 10 mins, also unable to walk while lifting heavy thing. The numb followed by cramp is slowly killing my left leg.

The doctor said it comes with aging and too much exercise?? What about all those people with disc herniation when they lifted something?

Your disc herniation could have got worse since 2 years ago or the pressure on the nerve is causing inflammation. Is it difficult for you to see a doctor?

Yikes. How old are you? And what did the doctor say is the problem with your back?

And you should also see a chiropractor if you haven't yet. Those doctors don't know much about treating back pain.

You can buy NSAIDs by yourself from a pharmacy.
