Just wondering, how long do the recordable disks last for?

I find that sometimes, CD Rs start to degenerate after a couple of years.

Are DVDs similar in that respect?

    -

From what I read, pressed cds with Aluminium coatings degenerate in about 10 years esp if exposed to heat.

No data on dye type CDRs but lousy brands become 0 in months.

DVD discs I think are like pressed CDS and recently have problems because of layers separating when disc twisted etc.

The whole selling point of DVD's was that they would not degenerate!

I have noticed that recordable DVD's are quite up and down with regards to quality and ability to function especially the top line discs :(
