We are starting a thread for Badminton lovers to know the details of live telecast in India of major Badminton tournaments across the globe. In the midst of our busy schedule we sometimes miss out on live international badminton matches due to lack of awareness of the TV schedule. This thread can be updated by any Members so that others can benefit out of it. Enjoy Badminton... Hong Kong Open Super Series which has started from Nov 17 is going to be shown live on Star Sports 4 from Nov 20 (Friday) from 4 PM (IST).
Macau Open Badminton live telecast on Star Sports from Saturday from 10.00 am IST. Recently concluded Hong Kong Open Semi finals was scheduled to be shown on Star Sports and after the first match the live telecast was stopped and instead a repeat telecast of a cricketers interview was shown. This shows the importance which Star Sports attaches to the game of Badminton. Imagine if a live telecast of a cricket match is stopped for 5 minutes then there would be so much hue & cry and Star Sports would never ever think of stopping a live telecast of a cricket match even for a minute. Hope this time atleast Star Sports shows the full live telecast of the Macau Open rather than stopping the telecast abruptly citing scheduling conflicts. I have written to Star Sports (Email) about how badminton is not given its due share by not showing the live telecast of major tournaments. Badminton lovers can write to Star Sports (hello@starsports.com) and voice their concerns which would show how popular is the game of Badminton. Small drops make a big ocean and our small efforts would go a big way in transforming a wonderful sport like Badminton. Hope we can promote Badminton even better and produce world class players. If live telecast of a cricket match is stopped involving India and lets say Kashyap's interview is shown instead, Murdoch will go broke. However if live telecast of any other cricket match bar Ashes is shown, no one would bother. And by no one I mean a crowd only 10x or 100x larger than the badminton watching crowd. Thanks for this thread BTW and I totally get SSs viewpoint. After all, barring Indian matches and LD v LCW, I hardly watch badminton.
Dubai Super Series Finals is going to be shown live on Star Sports 2 from Dec 09 (Wed) from 15.00 Hrs IST. Good to know that Star Sports has decided to show live telecast from day one of the Dubai SS Finals. Saina & Srikanth are the two Indian players eligible for participation in the Dubai SS Finals. Come on India... Also Star Sports has secured the rights for the live telecast of Indian Badminton League scheduled to be held in Jan 16. They are planning to show all the matches live.
