    Hi,

Does any experienced player/stringer knows whether you can string a racket at a lower tension after it has been strung at a higher tension previously?

    Like for example,
A racket has been strung at 26lbs and played for a long long time. And after the string break, you decide to string it at 24lbs.

Are we allowed to do this? Because i heard from a shop owner that you can't string it at a lower tension because the frame has already shrunk. You can only maintain at the same tension or go higher.

Can any expert please advise on this?

    Thank you

Complete nonsense. You can change string tension in any direction you like. So it's totally okay to go back to 24 lbs. after it has been strung with 26 lbs. before.

I would have even understood if he said something like "No, you cannot apply new strings on a badminton racket. In case a string snaps, you have to buy a new racket"... but that cr*p that he tells his customers doesn't even suit to create extra business...

Higher tension = less durability but in this case I think the owner is just stupid.
