Hi, I am Benny. At last I come here to give you an introduction of myself. I am new to Vancouver - i came here 2 months ago from Shanghai. I like play badminton very much and my level should be above beginners, as for the exact definition, i think should be concluded after playing with you guys. (I haven't played for half a year coz i really couldn't spare anytime, so my level might degenerate somehow) To tell you the truth, before i came to the renfrew community center, i had never known that a plastic shuttle can be played indoors!! and to tell you the truth again, after playing with them i totally changed my idea, the plastic one can be played (although the hitting sound is not as dulcet as feather ones) and it is really a frugal way to save consumable expense. my weapons are Carbonex 17 and Isometric Pro 1000. Does these rackets seem very old fashioned? but i like them and they fit me well. i usually play Aerial 70 feather shuttle. I worked as a computer engineer, but I found that such kind of job is really difficult to find here. but anyway, i found you guys, you like playing badminton guys, that is enough!
Welcome to the Bcf Family. Enjoy your stay here and at the same time feel free to contribute anything about Badminton here.
Welcome... ...to BF and to Vancouver, Canada. In general, Vancouver is a great place to live and obviously we have a few excellent facilities for badminton. High tech jobs are hard to come by nowadays not like 5 or 6 years ago where everyone was just hiring. You will want to check out sites like http://www.bctechnology.com, http://www.workinfonet.bc.ca and you might want to sign up with a few recruiters like http://www.aplin.com (David Aplin & Associates), http://www.recruiters.om (Holloway, Shultz & Associates), http://www.corporate.bc.ca (Corporate Recruiters), etc. There are a number of us on the forum who are in the high tech field.
The same to me,I have never seen anyone playing plastic in GuangZhou. So I doubt whether we can really play plastic or not That's not too bad after some games with plastic in the Clearone, but afterall the feeling of the plastic is worse than the feather.
Hi Benny, welcome to BF. If you prefer to play with feather birds at Renfrew, go on Tuesday and Sunday nights, 8:00-10:00pm. Unfortunately, they use the cheaper Victor Silver, but still better than plastic. Cost is $4.50 for drop in. The lady that runs the show is "Granny Sue", you can't missed her. I play at Renfrew occassionally, maybe I will see you there. Collingwood is a good place to play also, better birds and higher level. Cheers and welcome to Canada
Thank you very much! Are you sure it is Tuseday and Sunday? As i saw days ago, it is Thursday and Sunday. $4.5 includes both rental for the court and the shuttle?
Things could have changed, but last I heard... the Deer Lake club usually booked Thursday evenings at Renfrew. They're very competitive and played with nylon shuttles.
