Feel free to add (as long as it's no run of the mill boy/girl band nonsense ; that means 'it sucks' in a nice way but I guess you can still add it anyway as this is what the thread is for and there is no accounting for taste)

"AndAnotherThing... 14 minutes agoI want to defend 2NE1 just a little, they've been openly called the ugliest girl group in Korea for their not so conventional looks, and they've been one of the few groups to confront the issue of beauty standards head on with their song "Ugly".
From an outsider's perspective, I have to say I respect the K-pop artists who are honest about their surgeries. That's hard to do, so I can understand why some want to keep quiet on it. American singers who've had work done keep it quiet, too. No one's pretending Park Bom hasn't had work done, and the Brown Eyed Girls have all admitted it (and did a satirical "Poker Face" parody about it for SNL Korea). I think it's more harmful to pretend this "perfection" comes naturally. Admitting to plastic surgery and airbrushing, etc is a better jumping off point."
Comment on: I Can’t Stop Looking at These South Korean Women Who’ve Had Plastic Surgery
Also reminds me of some comedic column or whatever about plastic surgery, calling it what it is: false advertising .

Update 03/2012: Eurovision 2013
Bringing you 4 songs from Eurovision semi-final #1
Starting off with the big favorite (apparently; personally: not as good as the hype would have you believe beforehand imo )
Followed by the song that put The Netherlands in the final for the first time in 9 years
Our oddity of the year, failed to qualify (quite like the chorus myself )
And finishing off with my personal SF1 fav

SF2 underway as we speak, performances finished and waiting for the votes. Only just started watching and another supposedly favorite, Norway, sounding a bit boring in the recap (not bad though) ... Just heard something indescribable pass by . Will update tomorrow in a special category *the horror*
Eugh, can't even vote today

It may be the view from this side of the Atlantic, but do Europeans really see the Eurovision Song Contest as the apogee of their continent's cultural achievements?
Democracy? The Magna Carta? Notre Dame cathedral? The printing press? Caesar salad? Do these fade to nothingness in the shadow of the massive cultural accomplishment of a pretty Scandanavian girl chirping out a catchy tune? :-/
Well, we North Americans can't be hypocrites. We say we spend our college vacations in Europe to soak up the history and culture... but we are really just there to watch pretty Scandanavian girls, too. ;-)

Guys, do you know the song played in the All England 2011 match between Peter Gade versus Taufik Hidayat during the entrance ?

As for the songs: a wild mix of traditional to experimental (ABBA - Waterloo) to traditional meets modern .
But it's not as popular as made out to be or at least not as "big a deal", just some nice entertainment and friendly rivalry . Regarding that last aspect: Norway has it's act together
