    hello,

are there someone who use yoga or meditation to improve his skills? it sounds very curious, i know
i've heard that Gopichan from india doing yoga especially for badminton.

i do meditation quite a while and it helps me to concentrate and think clearer.
i am more relaxed and think more logically than before.
no doubt, indirectly it had effects on my game.

meditation for badminton could mean, you visualize techniques, the strokes again and again until you internalise them. after that you practise what you have visualized. i think this could help (?).
you develope discipline and willpower. it's very diffcult to sit down everyday 20 minutes with 100% concentration, NO (!) other thoughts except your meditation object. it sounds easy, but this requires very much effort!!

meditation for badminton is like watching and analysing professional games on video, but more intensively and abstractly.

Are there anyone who have experience on it? is this already a part of modern, professional training?
    what do think about this?

I've never been 'formally' taught meditation techniques, but have attended yoga classes and had visualisation prompts from a badminton coach previously. I find it very helpful to visualise before a game as it not only relaxes my thoughts, but you'd be surprised every shot you really think about actually goes IN!

But I've dropped yoga as I could never concentrate 'during' the sessions, but I've benefited from the principles...hehe

I know a few folks that do yoga and they seem more flexable as a result compared to before they started so it would be beneficial that way.

I think studying at UW has improved my game indirectly ;) I think more clearly after doing lots of math and programming...although they bore me sometimes.

Seriously, I sucked when I was in high school..
Maybe if I started badminton in elementary school then I'd be better?

I have a theory that by focusing on something...like math or even playing piano for instance, a person will "smarten up" on other things. Like writing english, or playing badminton. Probably this isn't new though...
