The Cheers Holdings Pte Ltd, which is engaged in the 'convenience store' business, becomes a benefactor to Singapore badminton by being one of the main sponsors of the forthcoming "Cheers Badminton Age Group Tournament". Cheers itself is a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTUC ( National Trades Union Congress) FairPrice, which is a supermarket chain owned by the workers' unions, has become a household name as the prices of its products are rather competitive and their main objective is to help lower the cost of living.

It is worthy of note that the President of the SBA, who is also Singapore's Minister of the Environment, once held an important position in the NTUC. I suppose his old ties with the Trade Union movement must have helped in securing this sponsorship from Cheers.
