We are currently looking for support within the badminton community in the Lower Mainland so that we can once again host the CB Invit. Tournament in December. Any suggestions or comments for support or for improvement or for whatever, please post here. William Wong CB
What kind of support are you talking about? Financial / prizes support? Volunteers for the event? Players to participate? -Rick
Support as in....verbal (written) support from ppl saying that they'd be interested in participating in this tournament. We are trying to get this kind of support from the community so that we can pressure the administration to allow us to run the event.
Later on, there will be a letter sent around asking players to email the principal at Dr. Charles Best. Also, there will be a petition being passed around within the Coquitlam area. But for now, verbal support can also be written in here. We will print off this page as well later to show to the administration.
Of course, I guess I should realize that I don't have the contacts for all the ppl who frequent this forum. So, I'll post the email now: To give verbal/written support for the Dr. Charles Best Invit. Tournament 2004, please email the principal of Dr. Charles Best Secondary, Mr. Brian Fichter, at the following email address: bfichter@sd43.bc.ca If possible, please also copy and paste your letter here in this forum, so that we can print it off in the event that the email is lost by him. Thank you very much.
No...I already have a new crew with ppl who are fully capable of running the tournament. Most of them played huge roles in running the tournament last year. If I do come back in December, I will be in a supervision role only.
So any new details regarding this tournament? Is this for high school students? Is it a team event? Racquetchat
The tournament has been given the go-ahead by the CB Admin (or at least as far as I know....I'm in Toronto right now). The entry form should be out shortly. The tournament is for players all ages and levels. It is not a team tournament. CB hasnt' done one of those for a couple years.
Great -- I'm looking forward to seeing more info. My son might be interested. If you want I can post it on my site as well, where a bunch of people from our club hang out, to spread the word around. RC ps: Have fun in TO. I'm in Halifax for another few days. www.racquetchat.com

Hmm... that's just around exam time and the weekend before Christmas. Makes me wonder how many players the tourney would lose because of that... -Rick
