I just read some news saying that, the Digital Rebel, (or you call it 300D or Kiss Digital; Depending on the areas), have the new color!! :)

Black!! I think it's the best color for DSLR cameras, very professional look!

It's out in Japan now ....but I hope it will get to the US soon....once it does, I think I am going to get one :)

(I think Canon has more variety of lenses....that's why I think I should stick with the Canon....although Nikon's D70 is also a very nice camera)

Hmm....I bet there are some of us in this forum own the Digital Rebel, right? (from previous posts)

nikon is good but costing more on per feature basis. I don't know if canon had tweak the the black 300D as a 2nd release of 300D or just a body color change. The D70 is a reply to canon's 300D. Wonder if buying it in HK would be cheaper or not

Hmm, it seems the black 300D available in JP for now and in KOR by July 5th. Of couse, the JP version is better than KOR. JP get KISS while KOR gets the USM bundle. SG is negotiating wif canon now.

It would be a while before US get it (not sure it would either) because canon will be sitting with idle stock of silver 300D. When it first came out, I say to myself that canon is dumb, why go with half silver body when they and consumers know all black ones look more professional. My guess is maybe canon dont want 300D to look as good as their 10D.

If u can't wait, u can paint it like this guy

Yeah, I like D70 , too. However, Canon has a lot more lenses than Nikon...so I have to think about it .....

I am not sure about if Canon added in more features in the black one or not, we will see in couple of months :) I hope they did.

About the prices, one of my friend found this site:
    http://www.amphotoworld.com/product.asp?id=nkd70

D70(body only) is only $800 USD now and 300D(body only) is only $550 USD
that's really low.....(I think it's a little suspicious, but oh well)

the D70 does look really nice. too bad it is still $800. that's way too much money for a toy.

BC always accept donations though... i use it to erm.... take badminton photos! that's right! ;)

    only still $800?

In canada, the D70 body currently sells for $1450, and $1900 with lens from London Drugs chain stores. At current exchange rate, that's 1097 USD AND 1436 USD, respectively

Hmm, just imagine how much it would be in SG or HK :)

Since we're discussing about Canon Digital Cameras. Anybody know some addresses of Canon wholesaler/distributors in Hong Kong? I'm planning to purchase one directly from them rather than going through retailers.

actually, if you walk into a store in the US, you will find a similar price too:

    Ritz has the D70 for $999 and w/lens $1300.

now the difference isn't that much as it looked...

oh wait, Ritz has "Satisfaction Guaranteed"... now that's gonna worth another $100... ;)

I know a guy working at LD and he told me that the D70s (they had 10 in the store) were sold in less than a week. A surprise to them given the price ...

Some rumors said that Canon will release more colors later on.....such as deep blue, grey.....etc. in order to win the battle with D70 :)

i think they will never do that as that will eat into the market for the high end P&S digital cameras. i believe around $800 is the lowest they will go.
