Space behind the court?

How much space is required behind the court in singles? New courts are being constructed in our city and they want to put an obstuction 3 feet from the back line. I believe this is much too close but cannot find any law of the game that indicates legal distances in this regard. Also how far apart do courts have to be that are back to back or side by side?

If you verify at the following regulation you will see the required free spaces regarding international competition. In normal national events the minimum free space is respected (or should be).
