You're not alone. Use the search function to look for past articles on how to improve.

I would recommend wall practise to improve wrist power for backhands. It really helped my backhand underarm defense shots but I still lack the technique for overhand backhand clear and smash.

I had an article somewhere but couldn't find it now. If I find it I will post it here.

Most important is that you hit the shuttle as high as possible and keep your arm stretched. Don't flick your wrist and the shuttle will go in a straight line (without an arc causing it to land into the net)

just dont play it like a tennis backhand when in defense, Ive seen people done that previously and wow it always went outa the court or otherwise returned straight in2 their faces.... poor thing dat some people just dun learn their lessons week after week, so just want to point that out

I have a poor backhand also. But there was an advanced player taught me once to wait til the shuttle to the shoulder lever to hit the high clear backhand.

i believe what Qidong meant is that, if you are not strong enough to hit a overhead backhand, then an alternative is to wait for it to fall and then hit it at shoulder height.

pros will have no problem doing the backhand overhead properly!

Its partly right. If you can it is the best to hit it high as possible, cause in this case the bird is quick back at your opponent's side, so he doesn't have a lot of time to prepare for your shot. If your backhand isn't that good, it may be easier to hit it a little lower:eek:
