    Canada set up a virtual final in the Under 19 Tri-series by defeating Australia 8-3 at the North Harbour Badminton Centre. The Canadians now take on New Zealand on Friday night with the Kiwis slight favourites after beating Australia 9-2 on Monday.



    One of the stars for Canada was number one Alex Pang who is touted for a big future. Pang beat Jeff Tho in straight games 15-6 15-1 and is sure to be a big challenge for Kiwi number one, Chance Cheng of North Harbour.

    Australia's wins came in the two and three men's singles thanks to Raymond Tam and Chad Whitehead and in the number three women's singles where 14-year-old Erica Pong beat Audrey Bonneville in straight games.

    Richard Liang lost to Raymond Tam 12-15 15-7 13-15
    Nick Kiefer lost to Chad Whitehead 15-17 7-15

    Women's singles:

    Audrey Bonneville lost to Erica Pong 3-11 7-11

    Men's Doubles:
    Alex Pang/Richard Liang def Jeff Tho/Raymond Tam 15-8 10-15 15-12

    Women's doubles:
    Samantha Ralph/Alice Man def Erin Carroll/Leisha Cooper 15-8 15-7

    Mixed doubles:
    Alex Pang/Alice May def Chad Whitehead/Erin Carroll 15-10 15-8
    Nick Kiefer/Isabell Mercier-Dalphond def Jeff Tho/Leisha Cooper 13-15 17-14 15-10

    The New Zealand versus Canada match starts at 6pm on Friday (23 July) at the North Harbour Badminton Centre.

    Cool!!! I coached Audrey Bonneville 4 years in juniors! Such a competitive player. But, she puts sometimes too much pressure on her shoulders, not enjoying enough the game. It is sad that she lost her WS. But yay for her XD!

    NZ won 5-4. I was told it was a great match where the last game was the decider. Chance lost to Alex in straight games.

    The tall one in the back middle with the orange hair is Richard Liang. The other guys in the back don't look asian to me?

    any info on Alan peng anyone?? very interesting to see oceania countries lost to canada in top MS, whats the score for the game between Chance and Alex btw?

    Chance was trashed, 1st set under 10 and 2nd under 5. Alex looks impresive. BTW the final result was 6-5 to NZ and not 5-4 mentioned earlier.
