Where do you guys get your rams for your computers? In the latest upgrade, I ordered direct from Micron's Crucial online website for 2 X 512 MB of DDR 2100. I couldn't find similar RAMs from my local dealers. They all deal with DDR 3200 nowaday.

I normally order my stuff from newegg (www.newegg.com) and they have many selections on RAM there. I think they still have PC2100, but isn't PC3200 can support PC2100 backwardly? (I am using PC2100 type ram now as well in my old computer)

you can use PC3200 ram in any mobo that uses PC2100 or PC2700 ram. Although u won't use the PC3200 to it's max potential, u will get PC2100 performance out of it:) Also, it's great for future upgrades or overclocking :) So get the PC3200. Ordering direct from Micron seems a bit pricey:) my 2cents

    I just buy RAM locally.

On my system, I'm using PC3200(DDR400) at PC2100(DDR266) because my processor is running at FSB266 (actual 133 Mhz).

There isn't any point to buying PC2100 RAM unless it is cheaper.

I agree with all coments made above. Get the 3200. I'll send you my 2 sticks of 512 2700 and you can send me the 2x512 3200 if you don't like it;)
    Also, buy locally.
You can get 512 mb of pc3200 locally for around $90 cdn. where I'm at.

    get 3200 ram
    lower the latency timings

you'll get ram that runs at the same frequency as your current setup (266mhz), but with much higher performance (close to 400mhz's speed anyway.)

this is techincally overcloking your motherboard if you set the timings too fast/low, so go as low as your mobo supports and no lower if you are worried.

Thanks guys and gals for the suggestion. Unfortunately, I got the DDR 266 rams already :D . Is DDR 3200 1GB with low latency available on the market now?

Check out Tom's Hardware and AnandTech memory sections; they're reviewed there.

Low latency is quite pointless in my opinion. They're only a few percentage points faster, hardly worth bothering with.

Yes, unless you are running very heavy stuff (like mathematical or graphical calculations), you don't need L.L.

but then again, you can say that about ram in general.

afterall, 100mhz ram with 5ns latency is about the same as 200mhz ram with 10ns latency
