I am not sure if it has been posted already. With my limited Chinese skills, I have interpreted the results of an internal pre-olympic tournament in China. Held in YiYang, it is their last warm up match before the big occasion. Format: Played to 2 games. However Zhang Jun had been working on his super jump smashes. He figures the key to them winning Kim Dong Moon and Ra Kyung Min is his ability to kill the shuttle with one shot (hence his nick name) at the back. Reports seem to suggest that his power has greatly increased. Scary The bad news is that he has injured his foot somehow, and had to pull out of the mixed match. The surprise result was Chen Hong world no.2 vs Chen Yu world no.12 (now 13). After a close first game and a 10:5 lead, Chen Hong lost easily to a high spirited Chen Yu, who incidentally isn't even selected for the coming Olympics. Lin Dan played Bao in a very closely contested and tense match. Lin dominated the net area to take the first game, but in the second game, Bao made use of his long reach and prevented Lin from making attacks at the net to draw at one game all. Zhang Jun/Gao Ling vs Zhao Ting Ting/Chen QiQiu (WO) Lin Dan vs Bao Chun Lai (15:7, 8:15) Sang Yang/Zheng Bo vs Cai Yun/Fu HaiFeng (10:15, 15:5) Chen Yu vs Chen Hong (12:15,5:15) Wei YiLi/Zhao TingTing vs Zhang JiWen/Yang Wei (15:11, 1:4) Zhou Mi vs Zhang Ning (11:7, 11:4) There is a lot of simplified Chinese I am not familiar with, anyone want to add or correct anything, here is the original article http://www.bbesports.com/news/0407/29a.htm
If Chen Hong performs like this in the olympics, LYB and his staff will really regret their selection!!
Actually, you said Chen Yu bt Chen Hong but in the results at the bottom, it is the opposite! Also, was there an injury in the WD for the second set to be stopped at 1-4?
according to the article Chen Yu beat Chen Hong 15-12, 15-5 Wei Yili / Zhao Tingting beat Zhang Jiewen / Yang Wei 15-11, 15-4
You have to understand, whenever there's an internal tournament in China Chen Yu kicks arse, his problem is playing against playing he doesn't know well, ie the rest of the world. I wouldn't have picked him against the rest of the world, but would put money on him against almost anyone in China (since there are no team orders for him to lose ).
Yes, I know about Chen Yu he's the national champion and he's very good inside China that's sure (and a lot less internationally). What I was pointing out was rather the crap outing of Chen Hong, a 15-5 defeat in the second set is rather bad whoever the opponent (and 25-7 against him from 10-5 in the first set!). So if he performs the same way in the olympics, LYB will regret not having selected Xia Xuanze! (in any case Chen Yu wouldn't have been selected because of his bad records against foreigners)
Actually the Chen Yu vs Chen Hong score is correct, but you must be confused as the score was typed with respect to the player..ie A v B (0:15, 0:15) means B wins A I missed a 5 for the other score...hey, don't shoot the messenger
you still got it wrong Chen Yu vs Chen Hong (12:15,5:15) on your example 15 is matched up with b on the right side while the score doesnt match up with chen yu and the score of 15 but instead with chen hong, making it look like chen hong won well shouldnt chen hong know chen yu as well too since they train together? maybe chen hong just lost it (his edge)
If only they did this in Grand Prix events... Good results, Zhao and Wei! Keep it up for the Olympics! Gold! Good results from Cai/Fu. Go for the gold!
