Zhangning: Athens Olympics is not an end.The badminton Diva is heading to another climax of her sport life.

" I wish Athens Olympics 2004 wouldn't be the terminal of my sport career. If it is permitted,I will keep on playing."said by Zhangning yesterday at the Warm-up virtual Olympic match held in YUEYANG city,Hunan Province. At her age of 29,the " Diva of badminton" cofided to the reporter.

    here is the linkage

Can she win the champion of Athens 2004,what do you guys think?
But anyhow, she is respectable for her pursuit to badminton.

i was just watching a video her play against Zhou Mi in the Singapore Open 2003.

she was magnificent! speed, power, height, deception. most importnat, with her experience, she was sharp, really sharp, she can read the game really well. definitely the best women's singles badminton i have seen for a very long time. Zhou Mi wasn't playing bad either but i think with ZhangNing's form at that time, she can even beat some of the MS players.

from all that, i saw no sign of age, in fact, she was moving faster than any lady i have seen regardless of age.

i do hope that she can keep up her form.

and i think she is making her point quite well, as long as one can stay away from injury, it is not impossible to continue playing into last 20's and perhaps even early 30's.

Zhang Ning is an inspiration for me personally as we're both of the same age and generation. Hopefully, she'll be around the pro circuit for a while longer.

I agree wholeheartedly. The first action pictures that i saw of her were those taken by Raphael Sachetat (badmintonphoto.com) at the WCH2003 and i was most impressed of the power and range of motion she had. Like kwun said, she has all the right stuffs of an ideal badminton player and can take on any younger competitors for the next little while longer.

I remember watching her lose the All England semi-final this year, and being disappointed because I was sure I'd never watch her play live again. As it happens I'm now going to the Olympics, and the women's singles final, so maybe I will see her flying scissor-kicks from the rear-court once more.

I think 'little while' is a good choice of words. She is clearly world class now, but at the Beijing Olympics she'll be 33. Maybe that is a bit too far ahead, but I see no reason to stop for at least another year or so.

She's 30, although it feels as if she's been around for ages. She'll retire after the Olympics or the Danish Open, can't remember which.

I think she can. Some people don't degenerate as quick and Zhang Ning herself feel she's still mentally and physically strong. What she would lose due to age can still be made up from experience anyway but her current physique can last longer than most top WS players. Lets look at that scissor-kicks again :D

    Thanks Cooler!

Hahaha!!! [IMG] My personal favourite is this one, I think it's something to do with the hair!

Maybe she will. I'm hoping to go to the world champs as well, it would be a fine event to leave on if she was to retire then.

Will Zhang ning win the gold medal?

Zhang ning, she never gives up her dream of baminton.I wish a success to her against Mia.I think she will still be playing eventhough she loses, but will she be losing?

    Go, Zhang ning.

BTW,If Zhang ning wins, she will be the oldest female gold medalist in Olympic badminton. Also ,I think it is quite hard for the coming players can break the record. haha
