I was just wondering if there are any badminton players out there that you find/feel are your idol(s)? Gopichand is my idol as he is a player that struggled before, always losing alot and eventually coming back to win the All England. Amazing stuff, over the past 2 years as i came back to SG from INA, i have been on a steady uphill climb, kinda like Gopichand.....

Wierd thing is, i never support Gopichand

As in, players that you somehow feel you can "connect" with???

Hendrawan and Kim Dong Moon - for pure fighting spirit
Candra Wijaya - for religious inspiration
Lee Dong Soo and Tony Gunawan - for drooling at =P

    Sun Jun all the way.

He plays for himself, his team, his country and his supporters.
He walks around court applauding the audience for the support he gets.

    My Idol is Gong Zhichao!
I have always tried to think like she does... Her play is amazing she´s as fast as a panther and her concentration on every hit and every point no matter what the game is is sooooooo unbelieveable!.. When she´s on the court she doesn´t see anything or hear anything else than the game that she´s playing. She´s short but still the best player. She prooves that you don´t have to be tall at all to be the best player in the world! By the way she´s as tall as I am!!!!!!!! 163cm.

Why Candra and Hendrawan? Their very different players. What makes them your idols?

Oh yeah, Sun Jun's fighting spirit, his ability to change the game plan. He's just marvellous.
And he doesn't have a particular 'special winning shot' that other people have in their game. (he has that great defensive lift from the net). Sometimes I feel his shots are otherwise really very ordinary yet he's still able to win.

    Mine ?

Zhao Jianhua for his immaculate skills and ability.

Yang Yang for his superb 'never-say-die' ethics and his super cool composure on the court.

Wong Peng Soon for surviving adversity.

I know. but now he´s injured and can´t play anymore.... And I´m watching more ladies singles than mens singles... Guys and ladies can´t be at the same level..... But yes Pontus Jäntti was on of my idols before! He was a great FINNISH player!! WOW!!

I was really upset when seeing his last game in the Olympics. Not because he lost, more the fact it was his last match and the game loses a true warrior.

Hmm, might be getting a bit carried away here......
