Zhang for many years still remembers that defeat.

oh my, the plot thickens.... this Olympics finals is going to be the match of the decade!!
yes, i remember that now. Both of them look so.... young back then.
it would be an exciting match to watch for sure.
    both are hard digging players

the poll is approaching 50/50, like a coin toss.

of course it is. The true real final more than Mia Vs. Ruina.

But dedicated or not, experienced or not, hardworking or not, they don't matter. Both have all those.

whoever is more ready, she will be the champion. And I feel Mia is more ready for that, I hope she will be the champion!.

Imagine their first fight in '94, Mia was only 14 at that time. But I think Zhang Ning was affected by Senayan atmosphere (70%) and coaches expectations (30%). So Mia capitalized and brought the cup back to Indonesia.

I'm rooting for MIA... Always wanted Ned to win a Gold in Badminton. China have too many medals already.

Back then, i didnt even remembered the name zhang ning, i only remembered a lanky chinesegirl with semi long hair sticking on her sweaty forehead, just like today . Only when kwun mention it that i made the facial connection.

Kwun, did you have to bring up diving and gymnastics??
3 meter spring board should have been Chinese gold for sure but unfortunate things do happen at the most critical times. In terms of gymnastics, the Chinese just don't dominate like they used to. Li Xiao Peng isn't as young as he used to be either. Anyhow, China should be able to take the rest of the 4 diving golds and hopefully claim a couple of gymnastic individual golds... hopefully...!

I think Zhang Ning will win...she will be playing a very careful and cautious game, she's not as EXPECTED to win anymore... She will not go into the game thinking she can't lose and then suddenly wonder, "What's going on?" Which was a big problem for a few of the Chinese players, mainly Lin Dan and also Zhou Mi. Also Mia isn't the fittest, and she just played a TOUGH single, and a doubles match... that doesn't help her at all...

Exactly, if gold number is zero for badminton, LYB probably will be replaced....

wow, the numbers in here are so close....26-28....
My vote goes to Mia as well as others said above

Maybe Mia has struggled before from playing in WS, WD, and XD
Did she only play in WS and WD in this competition?
Mia has never play XD. She started in WD probably a year or two ago and has climbed the rankings pretty fast with Lotte Bruil.

She should be able to pull it off as she has said that she is physically fitter than she has been in a long time. She is definitely more talented than ZN but her lack of physical fitness has always been her weakness.

Hopefully if she wins, it would bode well for the sport in Europe!

Well you are betting against 51% who think Zhang Ning should win. This is going to be a close shave and I think it is precisely Mia's fitness which will be the crucial decider! And Zhang seems to have the upper hand on this one.
