6-6 says the IBF head-to-head thing (with Mia winning most recently)

    Mia Audina v Zhang Ning

Maybe Mia has struggled before from playing in WS, WD, and XD
Did she only play in WS and WD in this competition?

Mia will win for sure ... go Mia ... she's mentally strong since she was very young, she's the one who helped Indonesia get the Uber Cup ... :)

I think Mia has better chance. Both are excellent skillwise, but Mia has built up momentum while Zhang has built up more pressure.

.....Now i realize ... for sure Gao and zhang will win a Gold medal, ra kyung min who's not playing mixed now...has all to win a Gold medal in women's double, and mia who has beaten zhang in her last encounter...china can come back in china with only 1 gold medal ... what a shock !! remember in sydney they took 4/5 gold medal .... what a nightmare for china !

WD is not a certainty either!

Ra/Lee is a formiddable pair as well. now that Ra isn't playing XD, she is only focusing in one event. well rested to take on the best of the Chinese...

imagine if China goes home with nothing. that will be a bigger shock than diving+gymnastics put together, and Li Yongbo will have to worry about his place in the national team.

Has to be Mia, I've wanted her to win something big for a while as she is very talented and always there or there abouts but never seems to win the biggies :(

Anyway I've added a vote for her to take her into a 16-15 lead :p

Just out of curiosity who got to 11 first?

As much we'd all like to China's(the coaches) ego to be bruised by not winning a gold medal, I don't think that's gonna happen. I think China will at least get a gold medal in XD or LS, not so sure about WD with Ra/Lee looming but there will be at least one Chinese team in the final. I'm rooting for Wei/Zhao, but I have low expectations with their record against Gao/Huang and the possibility of match fixing by the coaches.

But on topic, GOOOO ZHANG NING!

I'm rooting for Zhang Ning for this one. As much as I would like to see Mia win, I'm already distraught at the poor performance of the Chinese team this Olympics. I'm just praying for some redemption with the women's and mixed events. :(

I have a feeling that Zhang Ning will win and just as many have given good reasons why Mia Audina should win, I too think that Zhang derserves victory for dedicating herself to this game for such a long time and at such a high level.

I have said Mia should prevail over Gong and she did this so convincingly judging by the scores (I had no opportunity to witness the match yet.). Although Zhang is much older, she has always committed herself well to training and kept her fitness level very high. She has also honed her skills well for as long as Mia, if I'm not mistaken, in the international arena and both her fitness and exposure will put her in good stead. Unlike Gong, who appears to be awkward in her movements, Zhang will be a different proposition. Mia will have to shed some pounds to keep up. :)

Zhang is a model of what a badminton professional should be and a victory will not only be a fitting crowning glory for her years of dedication and hardwork but also to salvage some pride for China as the strongest nation in world badminton.

I have always admired Zhang Ning! :p

oh, this just occured to me!

back exactly 10 yrs ago in 1994 Uber Cup, wasn't it the young Zhang Ning who lost the decider to a young Mia Audina and China lost the Cup to Indoensia?

Zhang for many years still remembers that defeat.

oh my, the plot thickens.... this Olympics finals is going to be the match of the decade!!

the poll is approaching 50/50, like a coin toss.

of course it is. The true real final more than Mia Vs. Ruina.

But dedicated or not, experienced or not, hardworking or not, they don't matter. Both have all those.

whoever is more ready, she will be the champion. And I feel Mia is more ready for that, I hope she will be the champion!.
