    Lets rejoice!

My source in ATHENS told me that 99.9% Rexy is coming back to play.
He will start at state level in Indonesia and will try to play internationally again.

I believe he still has the game!

Why not continue coaching Indonesian doubles? I'm sure he has lots of experience to share, being an Olympic/World/All-England doubles champ.

At his prime, he and partner in crime Ricky are perhaps the very best in the business, eclipsing everybody, making them happy to just arrive in the finals.

But now?? I'm afraid his body may not be able to take the punishment - or else Zhao Jianhua could make a come back too. Lin Dan vs Zhao Jianhua... hmmm.

But he will be different without Ricky though - the two are made for each other! Are they going to play together?

He will first partner with his brother for the state tournament. He will then see how he fare. After that who knows. Ricky is still involved with the Indonesian Badminton association. Age wise will be another challenge for him.

33 is still ok. Michael Jordan came back to NBA after 33.

Is Rexy the guy who has been helping coach Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson?

i wonder if it is because his contract with BAofE is over? it'd seems like a bad idea in the part of BAofE to let Rexy go. look at the results of Robertson/Emms. i have no doubt Rexy has a hand in raising them to this level.

and honestly, at 37, i don't think Rexy will be much of a threat against the current batch of youngsters.

Huh, maybe that explains the success of Emms/Robertson (and the fact that they live and train in Denmark now).

I also noticed an Indonesian coach sitting with the Korean head coach during the men's doubles semi-finals. He was wearing a shirt with a Korean flag on the chest, but I'm sure I've seen him coaching Sigit/Chandra at the All England a few years ago (2001 or 2002).

    Am I right?

I think Rexy is back to COACH rather than to PLAY, no...? Not a very wise move on the part of PBSI if it's the latter, IMHO!

And no, that wasn't an Indonesian coach. The two coaches on the sidelines were Kang Kyung Jin (Ha's former partner and the fairer one) and Kim Hak Kyun (Ye Zhaoying's former boyfriend and the tanner one).

even if age, rexy is one of the all-time best doubles player in the book, added up with former top 10 singles player marleve, so i'd say the tournament they are attending will prove nothing...

I can only imagine Rexy does that for one of two reasons - For making money or for the love of the sport.

In general, it is not wise to make a come back after retiring at prime time. Few badders and I were just talking about the case of Tony Gunawan, who quited PBSI at his prime time and decided to study in US. It was a smart move by Tony as he already become one of the few legends in badminton history, among the best doubles players. Everyone seems to only remember him winning gold in Olympics.

On the other hand, when we talked about Chandra, most thought he was not that good because he failed to reach the finals in ...recent tournaments. As a result.....Chandra was not as good as Tony Gunawan.

someone mentioned gail and nathan trained in denmark. not entirely true. nathan certainly was but came back earlier this year, and over the last few months I have frequently seen him down the nbc where I also train. Indeed on more than one occasion I have been coaching on one court whilst gail and nathan have been training on the next!

certainly having the likes of rexy on the coaching team must have been a big help to all the gb team. he's still a superb athlete.

Well I can't believe Rexy wants to become an international player again, but than again I can't believe either Kim Dong Moon will quit. At least Park Joo Bong can explain him that he can still be best of the world for some time. Anybody exactly knows the age of Park at the 1996 finals? NOt that young anymore. So maybe I don't know why I am sceptical about Rexy...maybe that just Park was the best ever and a very dedicated person. But who knows, we will see...

Rexy, even today is a superb player. Does that mean the English will lose him? If so that'll be a HUGE loss, but he is still incredibly talented, perhaps at Athens he missed it all
