I am trying to find out what grip should I use for the backhand clear. I've come across different opinions and still do not understand properly the theory of the grip and the wrist movement in backhand shots. Should I start the shot with a forehand grip, rotate my wrist during the execution of the shot and have a backhand grip on the impact? Or should I use backhand grip from start to finish? Maybe some of you use forehand grip all the way through? Or maybe your grip is somewhere between forehand and backhand? What should be the wrist movement be like? Thank you.
Well, I think what most people (including me) use is something in between a panhandle and a forehand grip. Remember though, once you get the footwork down, the shot is much easier to make. And also, make sure you don't have some kind of follow through; stop swinging your racket the moment you hit the shuttle.
footwork i see..but can anyone break the whole technique down (footwork included)? my worst skill is the backhand clear.. i cant seem to get the power and height. i have to hit the shuttle realli realli hard and it will just sail to midcourt and be an easy smash for my opponent :crying:
Grip? I am a little bit confused - does anyone uses a backhand grip when playing backhand? It seems to me that the name "backhand" grip suggests that it is used to play backhand clears.
the backhand grip only works when you have the shuttle in front of you. if the shuttle goes past you or on top of you, you must change grip position and technique. someone else should be more qualified to explain this than me. also try doing a search.
