    Hi ,

I will be training in August in Malaysia , I am from the UK
and we will be training with Yap Ye Hup . I am wondering if anyone has any tips about playing in the climate as it will be very hot.

    Thanks

Drink enough water, make sure you take rests between matches. Take it easy to acclimatise yourself first, don't push too hard.
You should also remember that your strings should have the correct tension for the Malaysian climate, I cannot remember off the top of my head.
Last but no the least, have fun.

Yes, like all UK visitors say, Imagine yourself playing in

a bakery back home, not just hot but also very damp and

    moist.

Sound advice. Take the first few sessions easy or you may find yourself collapsing on court!

I used to live in Malaysia and started my training there aswell. The best is to drink loads of water and stay out of the sun if you can. If your lucky the sports hall will probably have air conditioning. Avoid playing outside. I did that a couple of times and I got really really tired and my performance went downhill fast.

    Have fun,

    Jamie

Ipoh is the town where famous names such as Cheah Soon Kit, Lee Wan Wah, Choong Tan Fook and Lee Tsuen Seng grew up and learnt their badminton.

Have you tried MPI, that place where they have about 16 courts? I heard they have courses there for children at school...

    Oh, I'm not Malaysian!

Lee Tzuen Seng is from ipoh and studied in St. Michael Institution (SMI) and i'm also from that school. Do you know Koo Kien Kiet he is also from SMI. Before i moved to Ipoh i was a Penang guide and Penang was Wong Choong Hann hometown. Guess what i'm Choong Hann's good fan.

Yap twins were in same batch as Ong Ewe Hock, Pang Chen,

Soo Beng Kiang ,Yap Kim Hock etc. The batch after the project 1988 group

which had Rasid Sidek, Cheah Soon Kit, Kwan Yoke Meng etc.

Sri Garden I think was after 1989.

Is Sri Garden a elite training academy? When i was accepted we had to go through some tests and interviews with players like yang yang and foo kok keong and a couple of the sidek brothers. Do they have camps ?
