    Hi all,

I have just bought a new racket but i fell that the racket is too light for smashing. Is there anyway to increase the weight at the head of the racket?

I think there are two possible reasons that you felt your racquet was too light. One is that the racquet is really light, such as 4U of 80-84 grams. The other reason is it is head light although the racquet is 3U (85-89 grams) or 2U (90-94 grams). If you had put a thick grip then you may try to use a thin grip or not to add an overgrip so that the head is heavier. If reducing grip weight does not work, then you may tape a light lead of about 2-4 grams on the head frame. If you feel it is too hard or too ugly to tape on the head frame, then tape on the connection between the head and the shaft. By increasing the balance point, that is head heavier, you should be able to have powerful smashes.

Just put scrape protection tape on it to see if it makes a difference before you put on lead tape.

3rd possible reason: the shaft is too flex. ;)

a lot of people just add tape to the top, also helps if you end up scratching the racquet, anyways a nice efficient way to increase the weight of your racquet on the grip end is overgrip, go SUPERGRAP

if you feel the racquet is just to light, save a few bucks and buy a lower U model. which racquet are you using?
