Sorry, just curious. (Please ignore the double posting on the equipment forum) Not Mr Keen lest any accusation starts flying this way but if anyone wants a game (decent imho if that is any consideration), then do drop a line here and I will get intouch. Having grown up watching Hartono, Swie King and the lot (but obviously too young to see the Thing and the great Hou) and have watched some of the leading players of today, I thought it will be a good laugh to meet up, if I'm not able to contribute a good match, then at least to do what Wong Peng Soon's homeboys would call TC.
Did you happen to capture Rudy on film too? I can TC with you Thru internet, or maybe act as Intermediary as I often bump into Peng Soon, Gunalan and Yee Khan's boys.So does Viver of Canada vis a vis past China stars.
Unfortunately, nothing captured on VHS is still around although it was great fun watching the 1983 world championship final again and again when I was learning the game. Is it just my experience or do other guys find it difficult getting film of old matches? As for TC lets start with something way back: I was told this story by my MIL recently. Her dad used to sponsor (that is loosely defined when you're looking back 50 years or so) a team in a northern M'sian town and they had their own badminton court (outdoor). On several occasions, some of the then Malayan Thomas Cuppers (and winners) were invited and gave exhibition matches for the town folks there. Something like that will probably never happen again but there is no doubt that badminton, in those days at least, serve a terribly important social function. For those who are interested in names: those stars who appeared include Ooi Teck Hock, Ong Poh Lim and the Choong brothers etc Just a little tale.
Cheung Thanks for the reply. If you are keen to get a game sometime, my personal email is:jekhonglim@hotmail.com Cheers
Must have been like that in 60's and 50's.Right, films before 1982 difficult to get.No one in Msia has ever recorded Eddy playing.I know there are 16mm films of 60's and Beta max tapes in Baof E and TV msia, but I have no way of getting to them as they are copyright.
