    Hi everyone,

This is a thread I am spawning to organize those interested in joining a group to see the World Junior Tournament coming in October to Richmond, Canada. For general discussion about the tournament itself and other related topics, please visit:

To get things rolling, I have sent the following email to badminton BC.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------
    Hi,

I am writing on behalf of a group of local badminton fans looking to go to the upcoming World Juniors Tournament. There are some questions that we are hoping you can assist us with:

    1) We see that the prices for Full Event passes have been posted, but there is no information on the availability (and price ) of tickets to specific individual events. Will there be tickets to individual days or games?

    2) Is there a possibility of discounts if a group of us purchased in a large lot? As an approximation, at least 10 and above?

    3) Finally, will there be a more detailed schedule of the games posted (e.g. when is the mens finals, semi-finals, etc) before the tickets must be picked up (i.e. the October 8th deadline)?

On behalf of a large gathering of local badminton fanatics, thank you very much for your time, and we look forward to your reply.

    Cheers,

    ---------------------------------------------------------------
I'll get back to everyone when I get a reply. After that we can begin soliciting names of those who are interested in going here.

    :D

    ATTENTION Vancouver FANS!

Hi everyone, here is the response I got back from Badminton BC

Looks like we can get a deal if we can get a group together. I am willing to volunteer to organize a group and approach Badminton BC for the tickets if those interested could just add their names to this post. Once we reach a critical mass, we can working out the exact details to go from there.

I've also posted the schedule here for everyone's convenience.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Tickets can be purchased after October 5, 2004 as availability will depend
on the number of Full Event Passes sold.
Cost will be $10 per day for all events up until the Finals and $20 per day
for the Team and Individual Finals.

We will offer a 10% discount on tickets purchased in groups of 10 or more.

Unfortunately a more detailed schedule will not be available as it is up to
the Referee to schedule those matches. The best schedule I have is located:

    Hi,
Really appreciate your time and effort to organize this. I'd like to join but at this point of time not really sure which days I could go. Do you have a date which we need to let you know our decision?

I would like to get everyone organized by October 1st. Since widespread ticket availability is on Oct 5th, this gives us time to get everything on the money side organized, the date finalized, so I can march over the Badminton BC and slap the cash on their table for some tickets. :D

I imagine most people will want to see the finals, but we'll need to have a backup date as well if those tickets are all gone.

As of now though, I don't see much interest here to go from the response on this thread.

    See it for free...volunteer

Volunteer to help out and you can see it for free.

Better yet, encourage all the young players you come in contact with to go attend the event and show their support!

    Hi Vancouver BF'ers

I got off the phone with badminton BC this afternoon. Good news, plenty of tickets left for many of the matches. The all event passes haven't been selling like hotcakes I imagine. As mentioned before, the day passes are going for $10 and the finals, $20. Since I didn't get much of a response here to buy the tickets in bulk for the 10% savings, I guess I'll be just going to get them for myself and hope to see you all there. This post's just let everyone know that that the daypass tickets are going on sale tomorrow!!!

I'm personally going to get the tickets for the final on the last day of individual events on October 30th. :D

    Get tickets by mail

Just to save some of you the trouble of driving down to Broadway to the Badminton BC headquarters, you can get your tickets via mail if you like. Here's the email response I got from them.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------
You can call in a visa number or send in a cheque for two tickets to the October 30 finals for $40. We can then mail the tickets to you or you can come and pick them up. Please let me know what you'd like to do.
