new mixed doubles ranking...

    has anyone seen the new mixed doubles ranking????

    1 - KIM Dong Moon (KOR) / RA Kyung Min (KOR)
    2 - ROBERTSON Nathan (ENG) / EMMS Gail (ENG)
    3 - KIM Yong Hyun (KOR) / LEE Hyo Jung (KOR)
    4 - 8598 - ZHANG Jun (CHN) / GAO Ling (CHN)

    having just won the olympics, how come zhang/gao are only ranked fourth now????? :eek: :eek: :eek: :confused: :confused:

    Probably because they won some big tournaments about 12 months ago, and those points have now expired.

    Indeed, if one looks at their ranking history, one can see that between July 31st and October 2nd 2003, they earned 1300 points! Some of those points have now expired by the 12-month rule, and more will follow...

    True, but Kim/Lee wasn't very successful too this year, and they have not won any tournaments... Zhang/Gao however reached most of the finals although they eventually lost to Kim/Ra...

    The reason is simple : Zhang/Gao only have 8 results counting whereas all other pairs have 10.

    They should have played a little more if they wanted to maintain a better world ranking.

    I should think their first objective was rather winning the olympics than having a good world ranking however...

    Agree. Gao's injury (knee?) resulted in the pair's absence from Korean and Japan Open, I believe. Also, forgot which tourny, they got whipped by a TW pair in very early round (2nd?).
