I was just wondering, i look around the uk online stores and see that the weight of badminton racquets are different from others

    for example the mp99

    http://www.centralsports.co.uk/shop.php?page=yonexd&product=1914 85grams
    http://s75542554.oneandoneshop.co.uk/sess/utn;jsessionid=154152cc796ebbd/shopdata/0010_Rackets/0010_Badminton/product_details.shopscript?article=0024_Yonex%2BISO%2BMP%2B99%2B%3D283100%3D29 89grams
    http://www.yonex.com/badminton_muscle.cfm 85 - 89grams

why is that? is it because of the 2U, 3U, 4U thing?

Very possible. Make sure contact them, if you would like to purchase.

Actually, as long as it within 85-89 range, it's all 3U.

Rackets are made to be aimed to be a particular weight but often they because of various factors the mp99s will be differne t weights bt always between 85-89g if they are above this this they are rejected and below are rejected (will b too weak)

    flex: extra stiff
    weight: 85 grams

    http://s75542554.oneandoneshop.co.uk/sess/utn;jsessionid=1541549603d2b6e/shopdata/0010_Rackets/0010_Badminton/product_details.shopscript?article=0024_Yonex%2BISO%2BMP%2B99%2B%3D283100%3D29 (direct sports)
    flex: stiff
    weight: 89 grams

is the shaft stiff or extra stiff?? i now know the weight varies but would the site really send me a 85 grams extra stiff racquet if i buy from them?

Sometimes, the website provide the chart not based on Yonex's chart, but more from their own players' feedback. As everyone is different in strength and swing speed, a stiff racket to me, might be a flex one to you, but could also be a extra stiff for someone else. Never have to metion, add on other factors (overall weight, balance point, string tension, etc), the feeling could "fool" us as well.

As MP99 is a popular racket out there, maybe you can rent a demo from local dealer or borrow one from fellow club member to test it out. Then, whatever the review said, will not be too much important to you any more.

    Hey Vienly

I've got a MP99 you can try out before you buy one - it's supposed to be extra stiff according to the Yonex catalogue. It's an expensive racket so you should definitely make sure it suits you before you shell out the cash.

I play at the Waterfront Leisure Centre sometimes, and train with Tom (Jun_W from this forum) so if I see you on a Tuesday night, you can try it out for a game or two.
