It was telecast live on cable in Hong Kong last night. I saw part of it, the singles between Zhang Ning and Martin and the two doubles, which were all too one-sided. Martin did not even put up some semblance of a fight. The doubles were even more one-sided. Maybe, the Invitation World Elite stars had eaten too much moon cake. :D

I think the first photo is most impressive. Wish if i could see the frontal shot. It is a rare occasion to see the BEST women players of our time together in one place, all happy and well behaved

HEH heh! the new profile certainly shows the wild side of her.

WELL, not all the best are here... and they generally are happy (some may suffer mild disappointment, but nonetheless happy)... And i'm sure they are all the while well behaved.

True but I think what was mean was that the best players outside of China wern't there.

Camila I think has seen better days and without her the only top player for the international team is Mia.

What of the Korean pairing of Ra and Lee or the Danish pair Olsen and Scholdeger?

Also, Wang Chen missing as is Jun Jea Yun

May not have made a difference to the final score but it would have given the match more credibility. Nothing against the Germen ladies but they aren't exactly the women's world stars (yet!)

i dunno abt anyone else, but i found the whole thing kinda disappointing. i was expecting a lot more from mia audina and camilla martin. and the fact that ra/lee didn't go was kinda disppointing too....

About not having Wang Chen, maybe they didn't want any "former chinese" in the "rest of the world" team?... (maybe they wanted as many Europeans as possible too?)

Obviously China had their top team, whereas the very best players from the rest of the world weren't all there... but I think China would have won even so anyway!

Oh, I know Mia is representing Netherlands and especillay since her WR is 3, could hardley really call her European?

Also is this why PI Hongyang (NED) WR 7, YAO Jie (FRA) WR 10, XU Huaiwen (GER) WR 11 are missing.

Especially PI who is ranked above Camilla (WR 8), and given that YONEKURA Kanako WR is only 14.

I wasn't really calling Mia european, this was more about the WD pairs... :)

Okay Seven, but still a little confused as to choices of players given rankings, but I guess this was probably invitation.

I agree China has some of the best Ladies players, and given Uber cup performances the best Ladies team, but players such as Wang, Ra and Mia cannot be disregarded.

Yes I'm not disregarding the other top players, China is far from invincible, but still they would stay clear favourites whoever you put against them.About the players chosen for the rest of the world, it's maybe also that the others just refused to join this event?

    pics

My friend was there, he sent some pics to me.
He said these matches were like shows, and Chinese players were more serious than their opponents.
The best part was the first set of Zhang Ning vs Camilla Martin,
they really showed some great badminton!! :)
