South Glamorgan Open - 30th/31st October

    The ever popular Welsh Senior Series again kicks off in five weeks time with the first event being the South Glamorgan Open.

    The Welsh Senior Series is made up of 10 tournaments based around Wales which is open to all players that are registered with their relevant National Body such as BAoE, WBU etc. The Finals will be held at the Welsh Institute of Sport in June.

    They are designed to cater for both Club & County level players. The events are considered to be one level below the English Satellite tournaments.

    The details for the South Glamorgan Open are as follows:

    Date: 30th and 31st October 2004
    Venue: David Lloyd Leisure, Cardiff
    Sponsor: YC Sports (www.advancedrackets.co.uk)

    Entry Fee: £5 per event or 3 events for £12.
    Entry also includes a free weekend pass at the David Lloyd Leisure complex

    Times: Singles from 9am Saturday, Levels from 1pm Saturday, Mixed from 10am Sunday

    Shuttles: Yonex AS-30's
    Format: 1st round on a group basis of 5 players with 1 game to 15.
    Qtrs/Semis are knock-out with 1 game to 21.

    Prizes: Trophies and £25 sport vouchers to winners.
    Medals to runners-up.

    Entries have now closed for this event which is being held this Saturday/Sunday at the David Lloyd centre in Cardiff.

    These events are acknowledged as being one level below the English Satellite tournaments.

    There has been a good range of entries - both local club players and others from Devon,Guernsey, North Wales and Manchester.

    Final numbers are:

    MS 34 Mixed 28 LS 11
    MD 30 LS 16

    As part of their 1yr development plans the Welsh Junior squad players have been encouraged to enter these series of tournaments which is great to see.
