HI everyone!!!! About eight months ago, I unfortunately strained the MCL of my right knee (my dominate leg) while playing a singles game with my bro. I was given an attacking clear to my forehand when i lunged out to take the shot, I did not raise my leg in time before turning my body to return to center court. So the whole knee joint twisted out of place. Immediately after the accident, I was put on a recovery process and had been set on a rehabilitation procedure. It took me a complete two months before i could get on the court fly again.(Getting the guts to play again took the longest time because DANG!!! rotating your knee joint is no fun deal.) Anyways, as of now, although i am able to practice and play, my knees have been cracking and popping every time i bend my knees. It doesn’t hurt, but every time i hear the "snap," "crackle," and "pop," i can almost feel the joint grinding and eroding the cartilages. If anyone has experienced anything similar please share. I feel my entire badminton career is jeopardized by this condemned knee. I heard Peter Gade's recent surgery was because of the same problem i have. Now he is up and running great as ever. Once again, I look forward in your replies.

    Hey DowNunder,

Go to a doctor and get your knee looked at or get an MRI done :crying: . The MCL is interconnected with the medial meniscus (inside cartlitage of the knee). Often times when someone injuries their MCL they also injure the cartlitage. :(

    Good Luck!

I presume you immediately saw your doctor who then recommended you to a knee specialist? Did the specialist suggest you get an MRI scan?

TWO MONTHS to "fly again", that is pretty good. Usually, it takes 2-6 months to get on the court let alone to fly!

There are lots of other postings based on the same topic, please do a search on glucosamine & knee.

    Cheers!

Yeah i should have mentioned this before, but yeah, I went straight to the doctor cuz i felt like all hell was unleashed on my knee. The strange thing was he said MRI was not necessary and suggested that it was only a strain. Nonetheless, it would still be wise to check it out. Thanks.

But to pose another thought, does anyone have any articles on cracking knees or recommendations on relieving cracking knee joints?

    Hi there,

I love knees don't you? :crying:

I reckon you should see a physio and get them to refer you back to a doctor. I don't know if an MRI is necessary but certainly get a second opinion.
