Does anyone have some condition games that relate to performing techniques well? I think we all need to share this kind of thing, because teaching a technique is one thing (it is often just a matter of personal skill, knowledge of the technique and observation), but condition games need to be safe, involve everyone, be specific to the target of the practice and provide a level of competition. Mainly condition games for techniques for clears, drops, smashes, drives, pushes, tumbles, kills, lobs, serves needed. Thanks. Aleik.
Net Shot Game - King of the Hill -Challengers on one side of the net, the King on the other. -Only one challenger plays against the King at a time. -Both players start straddling the middle service line at the T-zone behind the front service line. -Challenger serves anywhere as long as the shuttle is within the zone (defined as the net, front service line, and doubles tram lines). -After the serve, both players can enter the zone. -Players must keep all net shots within the zone, otherwise the shot is considered out. -Winner goes to the King side, loser to the back of the line. Cheers!
Attack vs Defence played half-court A attacks, B defends A can only drop or smash except after a smash is blocked to the net, then A can kill or lift B tries to lift/clear everything deep except when receiving a smash, B has the option to block to the net any scoring system you like.
this was one game that i felt was quite fun. the rule is quite simple: - regular doubles format. - servers are only allowed to serve short. - whichever side lifts the birdie first will forever be stuck at defense for the whole rally (ie. clear only, no smash/drop) the game evolves to a very attacking game, as well as tight service and rushes of service.
I include conditional games almost all days. Normally I train against 'weaker' players (I'm in PT's top#10). Normally we divide the court in 4bits frontR, frontL, backR, backL. You can combine the rules at your need. 1 player very strong (p1) 1 player not so strong (p2) ex1(for very fast back->front footwork) p1 in the frontR, frontL and backR p2 in the frontR and backR. or in the frontR and frontR. ex2(for reaction and stamina) p1 in all court or p1 in the frontR and back(backR and backL) p2 only in the back(backR and backL) I like a lot to divide the court bits in L shapes, very good to train for fast pace games. have fun
As Neil suggests or: Player cant play in shot in front of front serve line, Or score 3 points for net shot winner Or score 3 points for hitting opponents body or must serve low and play net return for first 2 shots of each rally or cannot smash etc etc
