I just found that Gade is actually now, world ranked No.2 ! That's surprising!! Great news!! 9/30/04 1 50906 LIN Dan CHN 8 2832 1 416.3 9 3248.3 2 6926 GADE Peter DEN 9 2565 1 302.7 10 2867.7 3 51274 BAO Chunlai CHN 9 2367 1 321.56 10 2688.56 4 50427 KUNCORO Sony Dwi INA 8 2274 1 287.62 9 2561.62 5 9689 CHEN Hong CHN 8 2094 1 351.51 9 2445.51 6 10183 SHON Seung Mo KOR 9 2157 1 267.83 10 2424.83 7 11704 LEE Hyun II KOR 9 2049 1 334.32 10 2383.32 8 10337 HIDAYAT Taufik INA 8 2040 1 266.64 9 2306.64 9 50170 SUSILO Ronald SIN 9 2097 1 205.56 10 2302.56 10 11703 PARK Tae Sang KOR 9 2037 1 223.21 10 2260.21 Lin Dan is still leading.....but the margin is getting smaller and smaller
confused hey i dunno why taufik hidayat is down below in the world rank, when he just won the olympic gold medal he was ranked number four and suddenly he went down to 11 (if i am not mistaken) in early september until now . does anybody know why this happen? i mean other olympic medalists such as sony dwi kuncoro and flandy/eng hian are doing fine in the world rank
He is currently No.8 now, I guess the reason was he lost some the matchs in the Indo open? (or something like that) An interesting thing is that, he beat SSM easily in the Athens Finals, but now SSM is actually ranked higher than him (No.6).
hello taufik lost one match at the national games but i think that did not contribute a point to the world rank since national games is not an IBF event. even sony lost his match there but he remains at number five. does anybody can answer this question? *waves desperately*
I'm guessing its because they base points on the last 12 months?( Kwun said 12) of tournament play? He must have won or did well at a tournament back then, and once it got dropped, he lost the points he had before.
The ranking takes into account all the results of last 12 months : just after the Olympics, Taufik went up fourth with 2003 Indo Open still counting then just after, the points from 2003 Indo Open were taken off him (one year has gone by) and Taufik slipped down 11th! That's the reason.
Only Sony and Lin Dan of the top 10 are participating in the European opens. I think this is a good chance for players like Choon Han and Chong Wei to catch up. Hmm... Xia is also out, he and Chen Hong needs to buck up. Never really seen Park Tae Sang play, I wonder how he managed to get into the top 10.
ChoongHan and the rest of the MAS senior team isn't playing in the European opens either. they are to stay at home to train harder after their disappointing show in the Olympics.
By the way, can someone explain how the ranking works ? I understand it is based on points but where do the points come from ?
You can read the official rules, that will be the best explanation : http://www.worldbadminton.net/Portal/desktopdefault.aspx?tabid=80 (click on "Appendix 6 : World Ranking System")
how's gade doing now?still no.2? man, i just think that lin dan seems sooo unbeatable (well, discount the olympic) it seems as if lindan entered a tourney then he will be the champ,oh, and how's candra/sigit doing in world ranking, are they in top 50 yet?

not really a surprise for me, i mean he's not as good as before when compete in tourney, rarely step into sf stage , anyway, where is shon seung mo? its as if hes' vanished after his silver medal in oly, oh and wat about md?
Yup, they are currently the 49th pair in the world. If they continue to play together and do well, pretty soon we'll see them in the top 10, if not top 5.
