    confused

    hey

i dunno why taufik hidayat is down below in the world rank, when he just won the olympic gold medal he was ranked number four and suddenly he went down to 11 (if i am not mistaken) in early september until now . does anybody know why this happen? i mean other olympic medalists such as sony dwi kuncoro and flandy/eng hian are doing fine in the world rank

He is currently No.8 now, I guess the reason was he lost some the matchs in the Indo open? (or something like that)

An interesting thing is that, he beat SSM easily in the Athens Finals, but now SSM is actually ranked higher than him (No.6).

    hello

taufik lost one match at the national games but i think that did not contribute a point to the world rank since national games is not an IBF event. even sony lost his match there but he remains at number five.

does anybody can answer this question? *waves desperately* :D

I'm guessing its because they base points on the last 12 months?( Kwun said 12) of tournament play? He must have won or did well at a tournament back then, and once it got dropped, he lost the points he had before.

The ranking takes into account all the results of last 12 months :

just after the Olympics, Taufik went up fourth with 2003 Indo Open still counting
then just after, the points from 2003 Indo Open were taken off him (one year has gone by) and Taufik slipped down 11th!

    That's the reason.

Only Sony and Lin Dan of the top 10 are participating in the European opens. I think this is a good chance for players like Choon Han and Chong Wei to catch up.

Hmm... Xia is also out, he and Chen Hong needs to buck up. Never really seen Park Tae Sang play, I wonder how he managed to get into the top 10.

ChoongHan and the rest of the MAS senior team isn't playing in the European opens either. they are to stay at home to train harder after their disappointing show in the Olympics.

Yup, they are currently the 49th pair in the world. If they continue to play together and do well, pretty soon we'll see them in the top 10, if not top 5.
