    Hello the wise people again,

I know this is a bad habbit, but I am not sure how to get rid of it. I tend to dive when the shuttle is out of my reach, in front and at the back.

My footwork is quite bad, so, maybe it is due to this reason. I am trying to improve footwork.

Any advice out there will be much apprcieated.

    Thanks.

    practice your footwork
    do footwork drills
    do some skipping

It could be lack of grip from the court and/or your shoes.

When I started playing at my present club the floor was asphalt and very slippy and I used to dive a lot. After it was resurfaced with some rubberlike material my diving stopped almost instantly.

I still dive occasionally when playing on other courts that have less grip.

    hehehe...

Diving's cool if you do it in style ;)

My mate is a diver, but he hasnt much style as he seems to just plunge for the birdy for not much reasons at all lol !

But, dive until...it hurts, then ur mind wont allow you to do it next time!!!

On topic: What the others said !

Wow, I thought I was the only one could be this crazy. :D

Agree that proper footwork is a much better (and safer) choice than diving. Therefore, practice footwork to eliminate the un-necessary dives as much as possible. Also, try not to be really hyped up and dive in un-necessary situation (relax social games, drills, etc)

If you think you have the "fighting spirit", and willing to bring out everything you have for the last chance to save a rally, make sure you do it the proper and safer way. Never just throw ur body around, and land on the spots where you easily could hurt urself, such as head, neck, knee cap, tail bone, etc. When I have to do my dives, I try to land on the side of thigh, and use a bit "sliding motion" rather than "flying in the air motion" when you try to reach for distance. ;)

Of course, even with better method, diving save is still just a "better of worst" choice. If you just want to show off or don't know the proper (or, better) method, try to stay away from it, it NOT worth to get injuried just to be "cool".

God, I am actually ask ppl to "stay AWAY" from diving??? :D
