I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't understand the speed code of the shuttlecocks, what do the numbers mean actually? Kilometers per hour, miles per hour, meters per second?

Also, do different manufacturers adopt different codes? I ask because I'ved used shuttlecocks with speeds ranging from 49 to 79 and honestly speaking I really couldn't tell too much difference, even my friends who smash a lot couldn't see too much difference.
